Suzuki V-Strom 1050 Desert Express
Conversion by the Hessler rally team
EICMA 2019
Suzuki presented the revised V-Strom at the EICMA in Milan. At the same time, the German Hessler Rally Team presented the Suzuki V-Strom 1050 Desert Express.
D.he Hessler Rally Team – HRT for short – is known for its off-road conversions based on Suzuki. The revised V-Strom 1050 provided the steep template for HRT from Schleusingen (Thuringia) to turn the large enduro into an off-road device.
30 mm more travel
Above all, a high suspension kit increases the ground clearance of the Suzuki. The fork is lengthened and equipped with more suspension travel (160 mm original – 190 mm high suspension). To do this, new fork springs are installed, the shim setup adjusted, the cartridge extended and the hydrostop rebuilt. Of course, the rear central spring strut is also being upgraded. Here HRT relies on a fully adjustable Wilbers Type 641 Competition shock absorber with a hose-connected expansion tank that screws the spring deflection to 190 mm. This is supplemented by new plates for the lever arm. With the lift kit, the seat height also increases by 30 mm. There is a new guide bar for the chain.

The new Magura handlebar sits in a new fork bridge with wider clamps and risers that can be mounted in four different positions – adapted to your own ergonomic requirements. To make room for studded tires, the front fender is raised with adapters. A larger base plate on the side stand ensures a secure stand on soft ground.
The conversion is rounded off by a new windshield, a headlight cover, a slimmer rear with a new license plate holder, a small rear rack and a decor set with various stickers. The complete kit is available for € 3,895. In addition, HRT naturally has a wide range of other accessories for the V-Strom.
