Test: Husqvarna Nuda 900 R: Late insights
Charismatic Two Cylinder Plus Maximum Slain Freedom Minus Seating, While suspension comfort: The Husqvarna Nuda 900 R is not a bike for soft eggs, but a fun device for Kurvenkonnner.
That will be a hard day. While it is a warm spring morning, and we have reserved him for the first exit with the Husqvarna Nuda 900. But already the sitting in the garage makes it clear: the narrow bench is tough. The spring elements do not dive as usual during the stress with the body weight. And the pressure on the starter knob unleashes a roar that is not used to by a serial motorcycle.
Sounds louder than allowed
Okay, we should have done first from the garage. But even before the same tubing of the two-cylinder from the oval rear silencer like a true V-engine. The secret is a lifting tap offset by 45 degrees as well as the common trick with the exhaust flap under the engine, but the question remains: how did you get that through the homologation?
We meanwhile brought ourselves into starting position – in anticipation of other surprises. And the following follows: give gas, let the clutch soft – out. Start again, even more gas – the engine coughs and coughs and finally decides to get started. It is not that cold! Even when switching to the second gear he stutters and swallowed efficiently; It bangs out of the exhaust. Well, that can be funny.
Finally warm, finally curves!
So first pay attention to speeds and let the machine warm. After all, the twin pushes properly forward, the corridors can be easily inserted, the switching walks are pleasingly short – a first indication of what the Nuda – and especially the r-version st-version – should be particularly good: camberry. The high seating position with a large amount of oblique freedom, the wide handlebars and the aggressive brakes in conjunction with the torque engine, which gives its 80 Newton meters already in 3000 tours to the wheel, predestine for the fast country road hat.
Which we can confirm quickly. Because with the rising operating temperature drops to the rebellion at the engine of the will; Brav is now taking gas and can be drifted. Like a tamed animal. Of course, the seating position in need of getting used to. The arms spread far, the body lodge in the wind and the width drawn position convey the impression, you throne over the front wheel.
That too should be warm now and push away one or the other fleet curve. The wheels are frosted with Metzeler Sportec M5, a sporty pneu, which offers the necessary grip. And so begins the cheerful cornering, and the Nuda R develops from the benched bread roller to the willing winding robber. Where the brakes, unlike the Nuda without R, go a little too aggressive to works.
The R is not necessary
In general, the question arises as to whether the additional costs for the R release are worthwhile: for after all 1500 euros surcharge, there are the aggressive brembo brakes, an Ohlins strut, an adjustable fork, a little carbon, a flat bench and a shorter translation. The basic price takes up from 9990 euros to just under 11,500 euros – not little money for a fun device.
Because there is of course restrictions in such a uncompromising concept. You sit upright in the wind without any protection, so that motorway trips are truly not pleasure. And travel suitable is the hard bank as little as the seating place. Even with the chassis you would have to readjustly readjust. All this may be of the Nuda and the uncompromising concept; Incomprehensible, however, is that (yet) no ABS is offered. The consumption? Gift! The Nuda wants to be moved, there are 5.6 liters at 100 kilometers no scale.
The longer together, the more narrower
Ultimately, in the course of the trip, a certain sympathy is developing between us and the race bike. The curves swap smoothly, the engine is strong and willing with great gas acceptance, for braking the little finger is enough. The nearly 200 kilos of light Nuda also proves to be very agile. Everything underlines from a core, dull sound that brings the heads to the bikertreff for turning.
At the end of the day we are reconciled. So hard he had not become like in mind feared. If we get used to the edgy design of the Nuda, even something like a friendship could jump out.
