Ducati Streetfighter V4 for 2020
Hyper Naked Bike with 208 hp from 19,990 euros
EICMA 2019
The Ducati Streetfighter V4 comes with the 208 hp 90-degree V4 with a displacement of 1,103 cc. The basic version costs from 19,990 euros, the S version from 22,990 euros.
Tea D.ucati Streetfighter V4 will be at EICMA 2019. It celebrated its world premiere on October 23, 2019. It is based on the Panigale V4, rolls up without a fairing, but with a more moderate footrest position and a higher, wide handlebar instead of stubs . At the front, a curved LED headlight dominates the look, in which Ducati not only recognizes the Panigale, but also the grin of the Joker – the streetfighter designer was probably inspired by this. We already know daylight in the V-shape from the Panigale and SuperSport, but the light strip is now continuous on the new Streetfighter. Another thing they have in common: The cockpit of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 features a 5-inch TFT screen, which also provides information on all operations on the Panigale.
Ducati
Double deck wing for more downforce
When viewed from the side, the crouched shape of the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 is striking: the front sits low, while the line continues to rise from the tank to the rear. The shape is dominated by the frame, which – like the one on the MotoGP bike – integrates the engine as a supporting element. This should lead to a significantly shorter main frame length and less weight, as well as a better stiffness and weight ratio. Only the most necessary trim parts are attached to the side, leaving a clear view of the new V4, which the Streetfighter, including the under-engine exhaust, takes from the parts shelf of the Panigale V4.
The Ducati Streetfighter V4 also takes over the aerodynamic wings developed by the Ducati Corse sports department from the Panigale. One double-decker on each side should provide 28 kilos of downforce at 270 km / h (20 kg on the front wheel, eight kg on the rear) and increase stability when braking and turning.
Ducati Streetfighter V4 from 19,990 euros
The 90-degree V4 with a displacement of 1,103 cc in the Streetfighter configuration is to cope with 208 hp (153 kW) power at 12,750 rpm. At 199 kilos dry weight that would be 1.04 hp per kilo. Ducati specifies the maximum torque with 123 Nm at 11,500 rpm. For comparison, the performance data of the Panigale V4: 214 hp and 124 Nm. The Stradale engine of both models is based on the developments of the GP engine.
If necessary, the standard exhaust can be replaced by a racetrack exhaust system from Akrapovic, which is intended to reduce weight by six kilos and increase power and torque by six percent.
Electronics and assistance systems
The latest electronics package, which also takes care of the surveillance of the Panigale V4, ensures better control of the brutal street fighter violence. The system feeds itself with information from six axes and adapts all intervening helpers not only to the speed, but also to the incline. Among other things, cornering ABS, traction and wheelie control are on board. The so-called "Slide control" while the three-stage "Launch Control" takes care of the perfect traffic light start. The Quickshifter makes it possible to downshift without using the clutch and works hand in hand with the slipper clutch. The engine braking torque of the Ducat Streetfighter V4 can be regulated in three stages.
Landing gear and driving modes
The basic version of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 is equipped with a fully adjustable 43 mm Showa Big Piston fork (BPF) as well as a Sachs steering damper and a fully adjustable Sachs shock absorber at the rear, one side of which is connected to the engine via a forged aluminum bracket is.
The Ducati Streetfighter V4 rolls up with three driving modes: the Race Riding Mode is intended to enable less experienced pilots to achieve the best possible power output on the race track. In Sport Riding Mode, the 208 hp output is provided with direct, sporty ride-by-wire throttle response and – in the S version – a sporty chassis setup. Street Riding Mode is recommended for uneven roads with poor grip. But even here, with 208 horsepower, the full power is ready. The modes also allow individual settings and can be reset to the preset parameters if necessary.
Braking and cornering ABS
The Ducati Streetfighter V4 is decelerated using the Brembo system "Stylema". The double brake calipers each hold four 30 mm pistons and bite into 330 mm discs at the front. The rear brake, on the other hand, is based on a single 245 mm disc that is clamped in by a 2-piston caliper. Cornering ABS is also on board.
Ducati Streetfighter V4 S version 22,990 euros
Forged wheels from Marchesini, electronically adjustable Ohlins chassis (43 mm NIX30 fork and TTX36 mono shock) and steering damper are on board the more expensive Ducati Streetfighter V4 S. In addition, your driver can enjoy the Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 system. In this way, the intensity of the suspension behavior when braking, cornering and accelerating can be individually set and the operating parameters of individual hardware components can be changed.
No smaller V4 offshoots
Anyone speculating about downsizing projects for the Panigale V4: Ducati boss Domenicali rejected this. The engine would be too expensive to manufacture to be used for smaller models.
