Like their satellite colleagues from the SRT team, the two official drivers rely on the ease of the M1 (four victories over the last eight races, including and) to try to finish not too far behind in front of Marquez or Dovizioso on Sunday !
"Maverick is known to be a fan of Silverstone and Vale is also strong on this circuit," confirmed Yamaha official team manager Massimo Meregalli, stressing that "the circuit layout is suitable for our bike".
Who will be the best Yamaha rider ?
“I love Silverstone, it’s one of my five favorite circuits,” warns the Doctor. "I like it a lot because it’s an old-fashioned track", continues Rossi, also rather "vintage" with his 40 candles: "it is very long (5.9 km, editor’s note) and complete a lap it’s like traveling from one place to another. It’s technical, it has everything! When you’re fast, it’s a real pleasure to ride there. I have good memories of this circuit but it all depends Riding at Silverstone in bad weather, it’s scary because we’re going very fast so we’re hoping for similar weather to 2017, we had a good weekend (Ed.). To be quick here, you need a good feeling and stability. Even in the hairpins there are some quick point portions and there are also a lot of long turns, so this is a track where the Yamaha is generally fast. We hope it will do. beautiful because last year it was a nightmare ".
For his part Maverick Viñales, 6th in the championship one point behind Rossi, clearly declares that his objective is to come back in front of his illustrious teammate. "Our objective remains the same: to be the first Yamaha in the final classification", warns the Spaniard. "Silverstone is a track that I like a lot and I’ll try to do my best from the first lap. It’s a circuit where you have to be in the lead right from the start, so I’ll be pushing hard all weekend. . It was at Silverstone that I had my (in 2016, editor’s note), so I have good memories there. I think it’s a track that can be very favorable to our bike and that we can be competitive Also thanks to the new asphalt. We expect better grip and that will clearly work in our favor. We hope to have good weather this weekend as well. ".
