The T 100 … this name symbolizes all the glory of Triumph. She marked the 60s in leather and the fury of the golden age of cafe-racers.
Here it is reborn to the delight of fans of the sixties, and for all those who are tired of losing license points. Basically, it is a Bonneville that the Hinckleya factory retouched. Two-tone tank, chrome engine covers, addition of a tachometer … Nothing extraordinary in appearance, because it is in the cylinders that everything happens. The T 100 uses the Thruxton’s engine, the 865cc in-line twin. This mechanism is more generous in torque than that of the standard Bonnie. More watts and a still deliciously retro look, the Bonneville T 100 has not finished seducing.
…Especially since she lets herself be tamed right away. We do not undergo the driving position, we do not climb on the Bonneville, we sit there. The little British touch, the simplicity and smoothness of driving, the quality elements and the serenity of modern mechanics appeal to the pilot and justify the smile that the Triumph logo wears. If the bike hiccups a little at reduced speed, it is not the fault of the engine – which does not vibrate and shows a nice flexibility – but rather of the transmission. The few extra cm3 were not intended to turn the T 100 into a cannonball. Certainly, things pick up better, especially in fifth, but it is above all the driving pleasure that wins.
The chassis, of very classic design, holds the road (it is the case to say it) and displays a remarkable homogeneity with the twin cylinder of the English one. The single front brake disc does its job very well; which is not the case with rear damping. If the sausage was that dry, it would be hard to cut it. And yet, with a passenger, we note a slight improvement. Does the Bonneville have the mentality of a matchmaker ?
As easy as it is pleasant to use, we delight in this beautiful English that we would gladly use from evening to morning. On the other hand, no storage under the saddle and no central stand, it remains a little across the throat. OK, but you know a lot of motorcycles that have so much charm and nostalgia that you can use on a daily basis ?
