Triumph 900 THRUXTON 2004

Triumph likes to revive the past with a certain taste for nostalgia and the fun side of those great years. after the legendary Bonneville which returned after 30 years, here is now the Thruxton – a pure cafe-racer, much like the Norton 850 Commando that Manchzeck piloted in the JBT flight. 1. Starting from the Bonneville, the English manufacturer re-created the sports bike of the 60s. At the time, you took a motorbike, a small transplant of handlebars bracelets and remote footrests, a seat cowl. .and you could stand in front of the Ace Cafe or graze with the furious. Same recipe for this Thruxton 2004 which takes the name of a famous Bonneville T 120 R series itself associated with a legendary English race. The Bonneville, which served as a base, underwent a few modifications, especially the twin which gained a few cc, new camshafts and carburettors, and an additional 8 hp as well as a good handle of torque. Hinckley redefined the suspension to take the extra power with an adjustable preload fork and new rear combinations. Of course, this sporty machine has nothing to do with the current GSX-Rs, but its deliciously retro look and driving position are enough to give you chills. In short, a charming sportswoman who is not afraid of repression.

Bad boy motorcycle, rebellious character, unreliable reliability and pitiful comfort … These memories titillate the neurons at the sight of the Thruxton. But the ride reminds you that you are on a modern motorcycle. Pleasant gearbox control, flexible and docile engine, easy handling, the machine is no longer the moth of the 60s. If we can regret the calm temperament of the twin compared to its distant ancestor, we will be delighted by its reliability. Here, no top speed but a driving full of charm. Moreover, at high speed, this cafe-racer does not enjoy great stability. The fault lies with a modified geometry compared to the Bonneville. What does it matter! You don’t fly an R1. The bike has neither the pretensions nor the discomfort. THETRIUMPH 900 THRUXTONhe driving position is sporty, just like yesteryear, but without excess. The suspensions, if they do not have the softness of a Goldwing, ensure correct comfort. The vibrations still exist; but these are no longer the ones that matched the moods of the London star. Here, we find it at high speeds, and they are not necessarily pleasant. No, it is better to take advantage of the mid-range and the sound of the superb exhausts. A good brakeman (except from the rear), the neo-retro sports car can surprise you with its agility and liveliness. Do not see a magic wand on the chassis but on the tire section. I am speaking to GSX-R 1000 riders and their 120 and 190 tubes: “imagine the agility of a motorcycle with 100 and 130 tires …!”.
The Thruxton is definitely a good idea; However, it deserves a more cheerful engine. The bottle is beautiful but the drunkenness may not be up to all expectations.
