Retro lines to the end of the chrome, two-tone paint, an engine that seems to come from the 60s, the Bonneville plays the “revival” card to the full, like the Kawasaki W 650. Difficult to access , the ignition key is hidden under the left indicator. Starter to carbs, pressure on the starter and the twin purrs. The two overhead camshafts and the super-square dimensions (bore greater than the piston stroke) erase vibrations. Smooth and torquey, the engine is pleasant, without being overwhelming. The gearbox, despite a fairly short first, and the clutch contribute to the overall smoothness. Astonishingly quiet operation for a twin set at 360 °. Only the whistling of the cast shocks the hearing. The Bonnie therefore prefers a leisurely stroll to the arsenal or long sections of highways. The ramage matches the plumage. The 205 kg dry are easy to handle and forgive clumsiness. The handling is good and the course is reassuring. Like the engine, the cycle part does not like being abrupt. The sparsely padded / hard saddle and rear shocks lacking travel, spoil the comfort. Braking is consistent with the peace of mind of the motorcycle. The Bonneville is not the Bonnie one could hope for, but she proves to be a faithful companion for Sunday walks.
