The power of a luxury road-going GT is not as accessible to a manufacturer as you might think. They are few to rub shoulders with the exercise; but the existing models are legendary. Until now, reveling in the road aboard a powerful ocean liner could only be achieved aboard 3 ships: the Honda Goldwing, the BMW K 1200 LT, and the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide (and its multiple variations). Here is a new machine to clarify this overview, to offer another version of prestige Touring, to combine Canadian motorcycle cruising (tabernacle….!) – The Victory Vision Tour.
Victory is Harley’s competitor in North America. Very little known among us, the brand has a wide range of around fifteen models across the Atlantic. A subsidiary of the big box Polaris, Victory arrived in France in 2010 to share with us its “vision” of the road. Its superb vessel is no exception to the rule of exuberance, from the enormous twin to the curved shapes of its fairing. Remarkable and surprising, the silhouette is worthy of a Star Trek episode. Futuristic lines, bio-tech design, inspiration sails between the yacht of the beautiful times and the opulent old Cadillacs. The front looks like the majesty of an intergalactic cruiser. The hyper-design stern adorned with a large V-shaped headlight (for Vision…. Or Victory) is topped by an imposing stylized top-case which also acts as a seat for the passenger. Its dressing is not only futuristic. It is the result of many hours of wind tunnel testing for both high quality protection, lower noise levels and a lot of stability on the road. Majestic in her formal dress, the Victory Tour does not forget the essentials. It leaves its sides strongly clear to completely free the sight on the twin-cylinder “Freedom” air-cooled..
A typical American mechanism, set on 106 cubic inches, or 1731 cm3. Between its fins, 92 horsepower, 1 ACT and 4 valves per cylinder, injection, a torque of 15 mkg very much in demand by this big beast weighing 400 kgs. Under the imposing silhouette, the equipment (standard or optional) is worthy of a good German sedan: heated grips and saddles, MP3 radio-CD player, electric windshield, cruise control, GPS, good loading capacity , princely seats and protection, combined braking with ABS option, and a very low saddle height to sink instead of sitting in the chair. The instrument cluster is flattering, with 4 analog dials, a digital window and a panel of indicator lights between the tachometer and tachometer. Aware of the mass of the Vision, Victory has thought carefully about it in case the GT slips out of your fingers when stationary or in the event of bad kickstand. Discreet protections make it possible to greatly limit breakage if the sides of the machine come to copulate with the ground. Ready to eat the kilometer, the Vision Tour loads 22.7 liters of fuel in its two tanks. These are recessed into the aluminum carrier type frame.
Danger to the Electra Glide? This new Vision Tourer won’t look like a rival, but its futuristic styling and the confidence of the House of Polaris can shake up the hierarchy. The Vision Tour imposes it, and if its price does not take too much inflation when arriving in our territory, it could come and tickle the Goldwing reference and the next 6-cylinder LT from BM. This GT exists in several trim levels, the first of which starts above 22,000 euros, much less than the competitor Electra Glide Ultra Limited.
