Fashion will be in sports … of yesteryear. Triumph paved the way with the Thruxton, Voxan is rushing into it with the Black Magic. The advantage of being a small builder is that you can innovate, surprise, challenge, even shock. It’s won with this new cafe-racer. A plastic copying crescendo the English of the sixties. Apart from the attributes previously mentioned, the components of the Black Magic are taken from the Cafe Racer and the Roadster. The wheelbase is slightly longer and the caster angle a little more open, just to improve stability. So no fear for handling. As for the mechanics, the twin Voxan has proven itself: powerful, it exudes a particular charm and a strong character. The chassis, without reproach, will allow you to have fun without a second thought, to play it off, or to try the arsenal in the TT fashion of the great era.
When the past and the present mix, it results in devices like this Black Magic. A motorcycle from the 60s with technology from the year 2000. English cafe-racer at heart, sporty naked in its content. An invitation to the pleasure of riding shaped by stainless steel and aluminum. The pride of place is given to noble materials and it is impossible to imagine this machine adorned otherwise. Suddenly, we can make a face on the plastic-clad dashboard. A nice piece of aluminum would be better for this machine.
The Black catches up with all the other parts of her body. She offers herself almost naked, without artifice, seeming barely out of the sculptor’s studio without having been soiled by industry. This is evidenced by the visible welds on the tank or the footrest plates carved in the mass by a silversmith. A raw aspect which contrasts singularly with the usual Japanese achievements. Not to spoil anything, the ramage is worth the plumage. The very good Issoire twin is still available, powerful and pleasant with the bonus of a surprising potato once past 6000 rpm. The Cafe Racer cousin may be a bit fuller at mid-range but doesn’t have the same gniak at the top. The box responds in an exemplary manner – a real treat to use.
With such fishing, the Magic leaps from turn to turn with exact measurement. At the same time fun, easy, efficient, rigorous and lively, the motorcycle is a toy that can be piloted with ease and enjoyment. Suddenly, only one word seems to register on the trajectory: Attack! We can go hard, the machine does not flinch. No handlebars to report, the stability is in each turn of the wheels. The braking is in tune with the machine: the feeling is excellent and allows you to dose the power with finesse. Enough to plant a trapper’s braking before setting off again with a vengeance on the attack.
More than an old-fashioned sportswoman, Voxan has created a sculpture that will blow your mind. Visual shock, driving pleasure, mosquitoes in your teeth … But are you still reading? What are you waiting for to tune into the conceptcafe-racer ?
