Jonathan Rea remains at Kawasaki in World Superbike until 2020
With his three consecutive Superbike World Championship titles and his 60 victories, Jonathan Rea has decided to extend his contract with Kawasaki for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Objective: to dethrone the King Fogarty and his four titles !
"Rea had several options for the 2019 season and beyond, but he chose to stay loyal to Kawasaki and the Superbike World Championship," said the Kawasaki Racing Team, which has hosted the three-time champion since 2015..
Fogarty objective
By committing to two more seasons, the goal of the Northern Irish driver – who will publish his own this autumn – is clear: to match and then overtake the British Carl Fogarty and his four world championship titles….

With his (including 45 on Kawa), Rea is already the most victorious driver in WorldSBK: the King himself has "only" 59 !
"It was when I crossed the finish line today that I started to realize that I had obtained these 60 victories", explained "JR" yesterday after his: "I had not thought of it. during the race! It’s super cool and I can’t believe it, honestly. Carl Fogarty is a legend and he remains the best of all time until we hopefully win that fourth title. That’s my big goal, to try to win four championships. That’s what Carl has done and he’s the best. But to be the most successful driver right now is something I’m really proud of! "
WorldSBK Vs MotoGP
The KRT team manager is naturally delighted with this extension which shows that "WorldSBK still motivates him".
"I’m sure many fans would have liked to see him against the top MotoGP riders, but we can also ask these MotoGP guys to come and see the fight here too," continues Guim Roda: "Rea’s level is so high let him pull up all the other WorldSBK riders and builders. They’ll all have to give their all to beat Johnny, so we all have to be happy and motivated. Our competitors are going to have to work hard if they are to have success. honor to become Superbike World Champion! "
