Chaz Davies, 1st
“After some solid practice and qualifying I was confident about our chances of getting a good result here. Today everything worked out perfectly and the bike has improved significantly compared to 2015, especially in the Straight line. To record our tenth victory is incredible! It is by far a new record, we doubled our score from last year and I am very happy and grateful to the whole team. During the race I tried to keep my head in the handlebars, manage the gap and the tires, and when the grip went down I hit the nail on the head to outrun Rea ".
(Chaz Davies, continued)
“It won’t be easy to get the last 7 points back from Sykes, but I think Jonathan and I have been faster so far. We’ll do it again tomorrow, and we’ll see where that takes us. I think I have to. win again, but it will be tight anyway ".
Jonathan Rea, 2nd
"It’s incredible to win two championships in quick succession. It’s still confused because I didn’t have the time to realize it. To have a season like last year, then this one with the new bike. ,: I think we faced a lot more challenges this time around. I’m really happy and proud of our job because this bike was brand new. Winning the first year of a new model is amazing and I want to to thank Kawasaki for building such a good bike from the ground up. I plan to get better and better. I felt we really had to win the championship this year so I know I have to thank everyone around me in the team. I would like to thank each of them ".
Sylvain Guintoli, 3rd
"It was a good day with a great race tonight. I started by qualifying well, then in the race I picked up a good pace straight away. I really feel like I ran well, j I attacked to the limit and made some good maneuvers at the start of the race before escaping. It’s a very good result for us, and it’s a great satisfaction for me to bring Yamaha the first podium since his return, especially after almost five months away from the competition. So I’m very happy ".
Tom Sykes, 4th
“Kudos to Johnny because two titles in a row are big! He drives great and you have to pay tribute to the team and Kawasaki Racing. We’ve come a long way since 2011 and they’ve been very consistent over the last few years. in the fight for the world titles. This year I am not the rider who wins the title on the Ninja, but at least the trophy remains with Kawasaki. Today ‘s race was very strange because I did I couldn’t get into the rhythm at the start, but I felt it got better towards the end. It seems to me that I was getting back on Sylvain, but the race ended too early ".
Nicky Hayden, 5th
"I had a very good Superpole lap and I admit I was really happy with it. I got off to a good start in the race and tried to stay with Davies and Rea at the start, but I didn’t have unfortunately not the right pace. When the tires got worn out things got worse for me and unfortunately I finished fifth after completing much of the race on the podium. As you can imagine I am not really happy, but luckily i have a good team and we have some good data so we will try to make some changes and see if we can do better tomorrow ".
Xavi Fores, 6th
"It was a difficult day. During the first few laps, with a full tank, I couldn’t ride as I wanted. I lost a lot of meters and couldn’t close the gap afterwards. are now going to make some changes to improve my feeling with the front of the bike and we hope to be more competitive tomorrow in the second round in order to end the season in the best possible way ".
