After revamping its MT-09 Street Rally version, Yamaha puts the cover and the artifices back with this Sport Tracker version. This time around, the style is definitely influenced by the Dirt Track universe, with a dash of Scrambler to the spirit. Another personalization exercise, to add a little cream to the sparkling roadster that is the MT-09.
The use of aluminum and carbon components gives the Sport Tracker a unique appearance tinged with the spirit of competition. The appearance is neat, and without upsetting the identity of the machine, this skin reinforces its Dark Side aspect. The bike has a short carbon front mudguard with an aluminum mount and a number plate in the same metal. Located at the front, it accentuates the motocross aspect. The side plates, as well as the handlebar, are carved from aluminum to accentuate the Scrambler look.
The tank with angular shapes is equipped with knee pads, the two-tone saddle is in brown leather and black Alcantara. These elements, along with the new wide footrests, allow the rider to have the right position and feel good when accelerating, braking and when cornering. On this side, the 3 legs of 850 cm3 knows how to convince. Available from 4000 revs, full of enthusiasm and nerves at will, the CP3 received in 2016 the reinforcement of traction control. Just enough to curb the excess of overly optimistic bravery. The TCS offers two levels of intervention, minimum (1) or maximum (2), and the possibility of disconnecting it.
Yamaha also plays with colors: the frame is black, like the engine; the cylinder head cover and the rims are covered with bronze while the fork strikes with its gold coating. Finally, a pity that the Akrapovic exhaust is optional. Its raised position perfectly serves the Street Scrambler orientation (nothing to do with the Voxan of the same name).
A tumultuous machine but a short career. Sport Tracker to bow out in mid-2016.
