As for the 600, Yamaha is redoing us the coup of the versatile roadster and a version with a more savage design. This FZ1 therefore supports the new 1000 Fazer, with the same technical arguments, and a much more expressive silhouette. We are not yet at the level of the 1050 Speed Triple but the style is still very strong, with a short rear, a muscular torso and muscles that stand out everywhere. A good big FZ6 which shows that it has 150 horsepower in its guts.
A great slew of nags that come straight from the mill of the last generation of R1. We just modified 2-3 small things to make it more plump at low and mid revs. The profile of the camshafts is more flexible, the compression ratio reduced from 12.4: 1 to 11.5: 1 and the flywheel heavier by 40% compared to that of R1; all this to offer more roundness to the engine … Not only because the engineers kept the EXUP and tightened certain gear ratios (5th and 6th). We keep the best of technology, with forged pistons, cylinders without liners, a hyper compact block, type R1 injection with double butterfly; and as a bonus, traction improved by 7% compared to the Yamaha hypersport. All of this promises us some great acceleration.
For the cycle, no jokes and dirty elements like that. Both the frame and the swingarm are made of die-cast aluminum. The perimeter structure, 89mm narrower and 52% lighter, offers maximum stiffness near the steering column and swingarm pivot pin, and flexibility in specific locations. A combination designed to feel the road as well as possible while ensuring top-notch dynamic handling.
Want maneuverability? No problem. With a reduced weight of 14 kgs, a wheelbase of 1460 mm, a hunting angle of 25 ° (one less than on the old Fazer 1000), and your position, more sporty and of course on the front (the pilot comes closer to the handlebars), it will put the angle and entries of furious in the turns. Below, the 43 mm inverted fork offers separate adjustments according to the slits: on the left for compression, on the right for rebound … Yamaha is doing the same thing as Kawa for its Z 1000 – True technological efficiency or some saving little petty…
Yam does not forget to offer us a little pleasure, with an all new and compact instrument panel with progressive lighting. This is only half the case for the passenger, who is not entitled to the grab handles. It won’t be enough to discourage the envious.
