Yamaha MT-09 SP (2021)

Has more, shines more

Yamaha is providing the facelifted MT-09 of the 2021 model year with an even more elegant SP variant. It scores with paintwork and equipment.

With its larger engine, the new Yamaha MT-09 brings more power and many other upgrades to the start. But for those who like it a bit more elegant, the Japanese are again offering an SP version of the new model.

Special paint and cruise control

The basic values match the base and the SP. It gets finer if you look at the outfit and the chassis. A special Icon Performance paintwork gives the MT-09 SP the familiar blue-black look. There is also a modified bench with contrasting stitching. The premium finish underlines the exclusivity of the MT-09 SP. The new look is based on the design of the Yamaha R1M and is intended to conjure up a technical relationship. The three-cylinder also delivers 119 hp and 93 Nm in the SP.

In addition to the electronic driving aids of the normal MT-09, the MT-09 SP offers cruise control. The cruise control system can be activated at at least 50 km / h and from fourth gear. Once the speed has been set, it can be increased continuously in steps of 2 km / h or by holding down the switch. Pressing the brake, clutch or throttle deactivates the system.

Higher quality chassis

For the chassis, the SP relies on a 41 mm KYB telescopic fork with DLC coating. It is fully adjustable in rebound and compression as well as in the high and low speed range. Yamaha installed a fully adjustable Ohlins shock absorber with hydraulic spring preload on the rear of the SP. It sits on a specially anodized aluminum swing arm. The black sprocket, black anodized handlebars, black levers and dark brake fluid reservoirs at the front and rear are also SP-specific.

The new Yamaha MT-09 SP will be available at dealerships from March 2021. Yamaha is calling for a base price of 11,199 euros (19% VAT). In addition, there are ancillary costs of 400 euros.
