Archetypal of the classic big roadster, with a style straight out of the 80s, the Yamaha XJR 1300 evolves slowly through the years. It retains all of its deliciously retro charm, elegant lines and superb big engine.. Born with the FJ 1200, its air-cooled 4-cylinder is both beautiful, muscular and more than pleasant to use. Perhaps less lively than the most recent Kawasaki ZRX 1200 or Suzuki GSX 1400 engines, its qualities are always the most exciting. A monster of flexibility and torque, a heart as big as that, a huge hand that pushes you without throwing yourself, a muscle of emotions. Whether driving cool or curled up, the XJR has no unpleasant surprises in store. Even the imposing weight is forgotten. A mixture of velvety and efficiency which imposes however certain restraints. Driven briskly, the bike is not as rigorous as its more recent competitors. In sport rhythm, the suspensions are exceeded and the machine less vigilant. The big Yam is to be tasted like a good old cognac, not like a shaken tequila. From 2001, Ohlins shock absorbers were fitted as standard. The carbs go from 36 to 37mm, the exhaust mufflers are shorter, the swingarm and rims lose weight, the fork is stiffer, the rear part of the tank is a little thinner, and the controls are thinner. enriched with adjustable levers and a warning.
