The fashion is for streetbikes. Hornet, Z 1000 and 750, SV, monster, people want roadsters and the sales numbers prove it. In the medium displacement category, Yam holds the upper hand with the Fazer. It seems that the wind is blowing and the builder seems to decide to inflate his sail. For 2004, he presents the new 600 Fazer which is available in 2 versions: S with a fork crown and N. For those who have the courage to read the article of the Fazer S to see the changes made on the 2004 version, just click here. Otherwise, here’s a concentrate: new seamless cast aluminum frame, injection engine derived from the R6, new tank, under-seat exhausts, 180 rear tire, new all-digital dashboard. The Naked version is distinguished by its absence of fork crown, its nastier appearance, and its oh so distinctive headlight which is somewhat reminiscent of that of the MV-Agusta Brutale. The handlebars are wider than on the S and reinforce the “street attitude”. The whole is particularly successful and we can’t wait to discover it devouring the tarmac.
No fear for her. Even before offering herself to the driver, she has already seduced him more than reason. This Yam has that little extra something that pushes you towards her, arousing desire, guiding the key to the ignition switch. Playing with flexibility, the engine (strictly identical to the streamlined Fazer) retains the temperament of its hypersport cousin. A small ounce of torque allows it to offer a little more than the R6 in low and mid-range but it’s still hollow. The mechanics are only really revealed in the last third of the tachometer. It is in this area that we take the most pleasure. The boiler grows impatient. Its sound evolves in the melodies. At low revs, his vocalizations are expressed in a pleasant cavernous sound. The speed rises, some vibrations settle but without really disturbing, it begins to push quietly towards 4000 revs, the engine meows towards 6000 … At 8000 revs, the fiery watts transform the road into a pilot’s playground . It sends serious to the red zone, with a howl that reminds you that you have the mill of a female tracker between your legs. The tone climbs, the virolos follow one another, the FZ6 plays with you. The front guides the machine rigorously, with lightness and ease. With its well-made suspensions, the new Yam roadster behaves in the most beautiful way. A very nice machine, safe and efficient. The match promises to be tight against the Kawa Z 750, which benefits from a much more present torque thanks to its displacement. The green entices more maliciously with its more “tuning” touch. Afterwards, tastes and colors are everyone’s business.
