The YZ 250 F model 2014 is a brand new injection machine ready to tackle the most demanding cross-country terrains.
After several years of development, the rear-tilted single-cylinder with front intake has finally arrived.. Its new sinuous “snake” type exhaust bypasses the cylinder. The all-new lightweight chassis receives a hoarse-sounding engine developed in Grand Prix. The refocusing of the masses improves the driving sensations on all types of terrain. A successful machine.
The 2014 YZ 250 F is arguably the easiest, maneuverable and thrilling 250cc motocross machine to come off the Iwata assembly lines..
New front injection engine
Using frontal injection for the first time, the YZ 250 F gains in power, responsiveness and offers an angry sound. Its engine uses the same technological basis as that of the YZ 450 F. The ignition mapping is fully configurable, while the engine power increases mainly thanks to the use of a “snake” type exhaust, a treated crankshaft, and a double segment piston.
Tilted back and ahead of its time
The front intake ensures high efficiency and the rear engine tilt angle is calculated optimally in relation to frame, engine size and mass balance. The “MX Power Tuner” (available as an option) makes it possible to exploit all the possibilities of the electronic injection unit, and to personalize the settings according to the preferences of the pilot and the state of the terrain..
Mass centralization and weight gain
The exhaust path adopted in 2014 made it possible to optimize the shape of the silencer and reduce its size. The rear loop could thus be shortened and allow the machine’s masses to be retracted. The position of the fuel tank (now 7.5L) has been changed to refine the bike and make it easier to access the air filter.
Lightweight frame with optimized rigidity
Particularly incisive in bends, the YZ 250 F now benefits from a reworked bilateral beam frame. Hydroformed, it is made from ten pieces of aluminum, forged, cast or extruded. Bringing precision and control, the chassis achieves unprecedented levels of rigidity, balance and shock absorption for ultimate thrill and pleasure.
Smooth shifting
Redesigned gearbox components have made shifting smoother and safer, for an even better feeling. Loss of traction is thus reduced during gear changes..
New dynamic style
The angular shapes of the YZ 250 F make it a forged motorcycle for 2014 and beyond. The YZs are designed for one purpose: competition. Plastics, airbox and rear fender redesigned are enhanced by a tinted decoration for better resistance over time. This technique appears for the first time on a Yamaha motorcycle..
