Kenan Sofuoglu ends his career

Kenan Sofuoglu, victim of numerous injuries in World Supersport, officially ends his career after 20 years of motorcycle racing. The 33-year-old Turkish rider will compete in his last event this weekend in Imola.

Kenan Sofuoglu will contest his very last race this weekend in Imola (Italy), the fifth round of the WorldSSP World Championship. This early retirement puts an end to 20 years of motorcycle racing, crowned by Supersport (,,, and) !

"The Puccetti team rider had said on several occasions this year that he was thinking of retiring after his terrible fall in Australia, which had caused him injuries on top of those due to his accident at Magny-Cours last year. ", explains Kawasaki.

"As the president wishes, I will withdraw from the competition this weekend", confirms the n ° 54. "I will be celebrating 20 years of career! In the last few months I have had a few injuries that have scared my family, as well as our president. We decided to step down sooner than I thought. I cannot say that I am sad , because I already take care of some Turkish riders that I train to wear our colors. 20 years ago, I started my career with the objective of racing in the world championships. We have won the world title five times and I’m very grateful. Lots of people have supported me, and I want to thank them. For the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team and for my fans, I will take the track for the last time on May 12 and 13 in Italy ".
