Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than others – have already been able to follow Saturday and Sunday, almost live, the unfolding of the 2018 World Superbike and Supersport races on the brno circuit. For latecomers:
Below are the statements of the drivers who animated the Supersport race on Sunday. Honor to the winner !
Jules Cluzel (Yamaha n ° 16), 1st
"I’m super happy! It was a great race. It was hot, hot, hot: I suffered from start to finish! The lap times, we will have to think about it a little because they were much slower than those achieved in practice. I tried everything to try to improve, to find solutions in order to hold out until the last lap. I succeeded. I thank my team who gave me a great bike. We still have to improve a bit on the grip at the rear, but this victory feels good. We now have a month’s break before going to a Misano, a circuit that I really appreciate ".
Sandro Cortese (Yamaha n ° 11), 2nd
“It was a good race today, but I’m very disappointed as I was a lot faster than Jules. His engine today was so much better. I just had no chance of overtaking him. I probably would have fallen. by trying or I could not take this risk vis-à-vis the championship (Cortese has been the leader since his victory at Donington Park, Editor’s note). We still gained 20 points, did a good job throughout the weekend and showed that we can win. We are now looking forward to the next race in Misano ".
Raffaele de Rosa (MV Agusta n ° 3), 3rd
"I’m very happy for myself and for the whole team. In the middle of the race I managed to close the gap on Cluzel and Cortese. But with five laps to go I was really struggling with it. the front tire and I was forced to slow down. This fourth consecutive podium shows that we have every chance to stay with the first, and I’m sure that we are really close to being able to aim for victory..
Lucas Mahias (Yamaha n ° 144), 4th
"The race was difficult for me again today. I knew that even before we left because we had a speed deficit. It was difficult to follow the other riders, I attacked a lot at the start, but when the tire started to slip, I knew I couldn’t push harder. I’m a little satisfied as I attacked at the end to keep Krummenacher behind and won this battle. I’m very confident for Misano because we will have updates that we are all working on: we should reach the podium ".
Randy Krummenacher (Yamaha n ° 21), 5th
"It was not an easy race, but the good thing is that I was able to keep my third place in the provisional. After the first laps, I started to have grip problems: it was impossible to fight for the top spots. We still have to improve, and I’m sure we can do it. If we can solve a few problems, I can fight again in front. But first we have to understand and work on some details techniques. I always feel optimistic and confident, because the team is strong and together we will find the right solution. We are already working to aim for better goals in Misano ".
Anthony West (Kawasaki # 13), 7th
“Based on my lap times, we had the pace to finish higher in the peloton, but after contact with another driver on the first lap, I just put my head down and tried to catch up with as many people as possible. got really hot on lap six, turn 3. I thought it was because of bad set-up, but two laps later I saw Morais crash losing the front in turn no. ° 5. I tried to calm down and let the tires recover after overdoing them. Once the tires cooled I was able to attack again. I felt like I was on the limit for catch up and overtake the riders: our bike still lacks acceleration. I can’t even switch to suction, I have to dive on the brakes. We have to find more engine power. The motivation comes from everywhere: today hui, halfway through the race, I needed this sign (see its panel in the image, editor’s note). The tires were slipping and my wrist ached . I had a great fight against Kyle Smith. It was nice to fight with him. The fight was clean. For those who do not know the meaning of GUNWAR, it is the abbreviation of "Give Up Never Won A Race" (the weak have never won a race, Editor’s note). A saying from my grandfather ".
Kyle Smith (Honda # 111), 8th
"It was a good first race for my return (Smith left the Honda Lorini team last week to reincorporate the Honda PTR team). I think we still have work to do and I hope we can soon we will fight for the Top 5. We kept improving throughout the weekend. We had some grip problems which during the warm up led us in the wrong direction. , we didn’t want to risk going in the opposite direction and went back to where we were. Maybe we should have taken that risk, but we have other races ahead of us and we hope we can continue to improve the result".
