With the multifunctional helmet from Nolan, the chin section could still be removed without any problems after the shock absorption test.

In addition to the shock absorption test, a helmet test naturally also includes dry exercises, such as changing an umbrella, visor and upholstery.

Everything is meticulously noted – including the impressions after the test drives, of course.

mps photo studio
25/29
Fit and comfort are right.

Rocc 780/781/782: Shell, umbrella and visor look suspiciously like the Bogotto.

But there are differences when it comes to interior fittings and helmet locks.

Cross and full face helmet in one
Aerodynamically and acoustically, adventure helmets do not stand a chance against full-face helmets. But they also have their advantages. We tested 10 current enduro helmets.

- Conclusion
In a direct comparison, adventure helmets do not stand a chance against full-face helmets aerodynamically and acoustically. To make matters worse, at least in the middle-class adventure helmets – the basic prices of the helmets tested are usually between 150 and 400 euros – not all providers place great value on sophisticated visor mechanisms or effective ventilation systems, for example. Again in comparison with “normal” Full-face helmets, even with the latest flip-up helmets, give the impression that you are dealing with helmets that were technically state-of-the-art ten or 15 years ago. The show sometimes seems to be a little more important than the function.

Positive features of adventure helmets: For example, there are usually quite large fields of vision. So like to scurry over winding, possibly rather confusing country roads, maybe with an adventure helmet you can keep track of things a little better. And since the speed in such areas is likely to be well below the recommended motorway speed, the helmet visors also have a real job and can protect against glare from the sun. The eye-friendly rest is done by the integrated sun visors, which are now also popular with adventure helmets. And in midsummer temperatures, a high air flow rate helps. Due to the design, this is available in practically all adventure helmets, whether you want it or not. Some helmets also offer certain modification options. By removing the screen, an almost full-face helmet is created; and removing the visor creates a disc-less, near-cross helmet.

Easy to put on and take off; satisfactory fit, no pressure points (ears may be a bit tight); Chin strap well padded; large field of view; easy sun visor operation, good coverage; Chin ventilation easy to use; aerodynamically inconspicuous; satisfactory noise level; satisfactory to good workmanship; good shock absorption values
Visor ventilation position too far, rough notch, can only be changed with a tool; Umbrella cannot be adjusted, top ventilation difficult to use and hardly noticeable; only conditionally suitable for glasses; Can only be used to a limited extent without an umbrella
Conclusion: Visor and sun visor controls, ventilation slider – everything is made a bit rustic, but mostly functional. The fit is okay, the shock absorption values are also correct. The bottom line is that there are no dramatic weaknesses – a solid performance at a fair price.

Very easy to put on and take off; good fit, relatively airy; good chin strap positioning; large field of view; easy change of visor without tools; Chin ventilation easy to use (but only moderate function); aerodynamically inconspicuous; good to very good workmanship; excellent shock absorption values, MIPS; can also be used without an umbrella
Visor ventilation position too far, rough rush; no overhead ventilation; Umbrella not adjustable; only conditionally suitable for glasses; relatively high noise level; somewhat poor equipment; high weight (but well balanced)
Conclusion: A very solid and well-made representative of the “Purist class”. Those who do not need a sun visor are well served here. The weight is surprisingly high, but not annoying in practice. Has by far the best shock absorption values in the test – thanks to MIPS?!
Bogotto V331 Pro Tour

Very easy to put on and take off; still satisfactory fit, very good suitability for glasses; large field of view; easy change of visor; aerodynamically inconspicuous; still satisfactory processing; good shock absorption values
Scratchy lining; Chin strap pad too short, strap sits a little too far back; Visor and sun visor operation stiff; ventilation slider fiddly, no noticeable function; high noise level
Conclusion: A rather coarse visor snap, a loud cracking sun visor and a very high level of noise – the fine development and manufacturing work looks a little different. And yet the bottom line is a good result; because shock absorption, features and price are completely okay.
Icon Variant Pro
Prices: 369 euros (matt black), 393 to 417 euros (decor); Replacement visors 44 to 49 euros (clear / tinted / mirrored)
Sizes: XS to 3XL; Weight: 1650 ± 50 g / 1,640 g (manufacturer information / M weighed)
To dye: Matt black, 6 decors
Helmet shell: Fiberglass composite material
Closure: Double-D
Country of Manufacture: Vietnam, ECE test mark E1 (Germany)
Furnishing: Wind deflector, helmet bag (high quality)
Putting on and taking off is still relatively easy; good fit, crisp and clearly defined fit; good chin strap padding; large field of view; Visor with practical ventilation position; very easy visor change; aerodynamically relatively inconspicuous; good to very good workmanship; satisfactory shock absorption values
Visor locking somewhat undefined; Ventilation slider difficult to use and without function; high noise level; poor equipment, relatively high weight (but well balanced); ambitious price
Conclusion: Very solid, very crisp – workmanship and fit are the strengths of the puristic Icon. In the other categories it offers a decent average without any noticeable strengths or weaknesses. After the test drive, you know whether this is worth the ambitious price.
LS2 MX436 Pioneer Evo
Prices: 149 euros (plain), 169 euros (decor); Replacement visors 24.50 euros (clear / tinted / mirrored)

Good fit, decent compromise between sporty, crisp and comfortable, good suitability for glasses; practical chin strap positioning; large field of view; Visor without a notch, but with an easily adjustable ventilation position; easy sun visor operation, good coverage; Adjustable umbrella; aerodynamically and acoustically neutral; good workmanship; price
Somewhat difficult putting on and taking off; Chinstrap pad too short; Visor change only with tools (but then easy); Shock absorption values relatively high (but still okay)
Conclusion: A lot of helmet for little money – the price-performance ratio of the light Chinese is excellent and is well above that of some “Compatriots”. However, the active LS2 developers still have a few small construction sites. In terms of shock absorption, there is certainly a little more possible.
Nexx X.Wed 2
Prices: 399.99 euros (plain), 469.99 euros (decor); Replacement visors 39.95 euros (clear / tinted)

Good fit, cozy and comfortable, yet clearly defined, good suitability for glasses; practical chin strap; large field of view; Visor with good ventilation position; easy sun visor operation, good coverage; Adjustable umbrella; good aerodynamics and acoustics; top ventilation; good workmanship; Furnishing
Somewhat difficult putting on and taking off; Shock absorption values relatively high (but still okay); ambitious price
Conclusion: Even in the basic version, the Nexx reaches the price limit of this test, but it is quite convincing in practice – even in points such as aerodynamics, acoustics and ventilation that are otherwise often neglected. However, he cannot significantly differentiate himself from the competition.
Nishua Enduro Carbon
Prices: 299.99 euros; Replacement visors 34.99 euros (clear / tinted)
Sizes: XS to XL; Weight: 1,150 ± 50 g / 1,244 g (manufacturer information / M weighed)
Colour: black
Helmet shell: Carbon, 2 shell sizes
Closure: Double-D
Country of Manufacture: China, ECE test mark E1 (Germany)
Furnishing: Wind deflector, Pinlock visor, helmet pouch (normal), side cover for use without an umbrella, spare screws
Easy to put on and take off; good to very good fit, clearly defined, still comfortable; very good suitability for glasses; practical chin strap positioning; large field of view; easy visor operation with clear notch, easy change; Adjustable umbrella; good aerodynamics and acoustics; good ventilation; good to very good workmanship; excellent shock absorption values
Visor ventilation position a little too far; Chin strap padding a bit too short; poor equipment; very limited choice of colors
Conclusion: An old friend really lets it go again – not acoustically, but in terms of test victory. After first place in the helmet test 21/2014, the extremely light Enduro Carbon has now won for the second time. But you have to like it, because equipment chichi is not his thing.
Nolan N70-2 X
Prices: 289.99 euros (plain), 329.99 euros (matt), 379.99 to 394.99 euros (decors); Replacement visors 42/42 / 64.50 euros (clear / tinted / mirrored)

Easy to put on and take off; good to very good fit, very comfortable; good suitability for glasses; practical chinstrap positioning; very large field of view; easy visor operation with clear detent, very easy change; Adjustable umbrella; good aerodynamics and acoustics; good ventilation; Top processing; Top Features; good shock absorption values
Very heavy (but well balanced)
Conclusion: A multifunction helmet in the best sense of the word. There are a total of eight conversion options to choose from, the Nolan is approved as both an integral and a jet helmet. And also really well done in detail. Biggest wish for improvement: A safety clip for the helmet bag cord would be nice …

Easy to put on and take off; good fit, clearly defined, relatively tight fit; satisfactory suitability for glasses; large field of view; practical visor ventilation position; Chin ventilation easy to use, satisfactory effect; aerodynamically and acoustically inconspicuous; good workmanship; excellent shock absorption values; good equipment; attractive price
The chinstrap sits a little too far back and can press on the larynx; quite coarse visor notch; Sun visor operation a bit fiddly, visor may be too big, can rest on the nose; Visor change relatively complex and only with tools; Umbrella not adjustable
Conclusion: Diligent collecting of points pays off, the Sierra 2 lands in third place. And that – apart from the excellent shock absorption values - without the inexpensive helmet standing out particularly anywhere. But he does not allow himself any really serious weaknesses.
Rocc 780/781/782
Prices: 159.95 euros (matt black), 169.95 euros (decor); Replacement visor EUR 21.95 (clear)

Very easy to put on and take off; very good suitability for glasses; large field of view; easy change of visor; Adjustable umbrella; aerodynamically inconspicuous; still satisfactory processing
Scratchy lining; Chin strap pad too short, strap sits a little too far back; Visor and sun visor operation stiff; Ventilation slide fiddly and wobbly even when new, no noticeable function; high noise level; rather moderate shock absorption values (but still within the permissible range)
Conclusion: The rocc and bogotto may come from the same Chinese source, but the bogotto can do a few things a little better on the bottom line. Above all, dampen blows. The Rocc is okay for the money, but compared to z. B. the even cheaper LS2, the air is very thin for him.
Conclusion
If you would like to find out more about the helmet test procedure from MOTORRAD and from TuV Rheinland, you can download the 8-page PDF with the complete test. Here you will also find the table with the detailed shock absorption values.
