With a Buell, we already have what it takes to stand out and gorge on very distinctive sensations. The standard XB-9S has apparently had adventures with an i-mac (computer from Apple) because an X variation appears. For the chassis and the engine, no change is to be reported.. Look question, this villainous motorcycle wins a nose screen and a translucent blue plastic airbox cover. Why did Buell name it City-Cross? Because the beast inherits all-terrain artifices which give it a more wicked and adventurous face. A protective grid on the headlights, a cross handlebars, hand guards; and here is our roadster ready to be emulated in the city. Note also the adoption of the pulley and belt of the XB-12S, a new saddle and black rims. The XB-9SX will be offered in a unique very techno blue color.
Its name indicates its playground: the city. We venture there with the rumble of the big Harley original V2. We scan the streets with a high-placed gaze, like the seat, which is somewhat reminiscent of that of a supermotard. You still have to have long legs, because at 850 mm high, the saddle is not within the reach of everyone. Where it sucks is that despite its name, the XB-9S City Cross flounders more than it sneaks into a built-up area. What handicaps him: an engine not super full at low speeds, a gearbox that seems stuck in the fresh cement, a permanent fan noise which swells, not to mention the turning radius … turn is to borrow a parking lot.
OK, for the city, we’ll come back. On the other hand, outside, the portrait is much nicer. With its tiny size and its original as well as efficient part-cycle, the Buell delights in winding courses plunged into the French countryside. Once in mid-range, the twin becomes very pleasant. We can then take full advantage of the American. Agile as it is not allowed, bluffing efficiency, the bike allows to adopt a sporting rhythm and to discover other sensations: those resulting from the imagination of Erik Buell. Driving a machine that is both atypical, with an offbeat design and specific technical solutions, that plugs you in ?
