Disillusionment at daybreak…

For the teams which have overcome the nightly tests, the Sarthe route reveals one of its last cards: worn out by about twenty relays, impatient to end with the break of day, many of the pilots are trapped in the ‘dawn !

At 7:30 am, the Yamaha n ° 119 of the Slider Endurance team made a mistake on a drying track but always so merciless for the competitors. At 7:37 a.m., the Suzuki n ° 1 of the SERT again made a mistake after climbing to third place (14 laps behind the leader) behind the Yamaha Acropolis n ° 99 and the Suzuki n ° 2.

Another crash at 7.46am with that of Franck Millet on the Suzuki n ° 20 of the Sarthe Avenir Racing team: the driver got up unscathed and set off again without wasting time. At the same time, big excursion for the men of the Yamaha n ° 3 Phase One, at the level of the corner of the connection.

The Suzuki n ° 72 of the Junior Team managed to pass its rival n ° 95 of the QERT and is showing an impressive 8th place in the scratch, given the loss of time linked to the fall of Lucas de Carolis (see).

8h00: fall of the Yamaha n ° 67 of the 3A Racing Team. Behind the Suzuki n ° 2 of the SERT, the Yamaha n ° 99 of the Acropolis team and the Suzuki Infini n ° 10, returns the SERT n ° 1, whipped by the hot Julien da Costa: never admitting defeat, the motorcycle n Dominique Meliand’s ° 1 takes in his wake the Honda RMT n ° 21, the Suzuki RT Racing n ° 69, the Kawasaki Bolliger n ° 8 and the Suzuki n ° 72 of the Junior Team and ends up recovering the third place at 8.15 am !

In the Open, the n ° 71 BMW Motorrad held firm in 16th place overall, largely sheltered from a hypothetical return of the n ° 45 Bihr Metiss, classified 41st and the Ducati of DERT, 42nd…

The interesting comeback of Suzuki n ° 61 from Normand’udurance, which nibbled away four places in the standings overnight (26th overall and 9th in Superstock), was stopped dead by a fall at 8:25 am…

Despite being four laps behind the Yamaha n ° 99 of Acropolis, the Suzui n ° 1 of SERT chained the lap times, turning up to six seconds faster per lap than the n ° 2 !

Nice entry into the top 10 for the Suzuki AM Moto Racing n ° 110, which told us last night "that after all the delay at the start of the race following the fall of Pierre Guersillon, it will be difficult to keep our ambitions to finish between 5 and 10"… Magic of endurance: here they are four laps behind the Suzuki of QERT n ° 95 at 8:40 am !

A dramatic turn at the head of the race: the Yamaha n ° 99 from Acropolis pulled out in the Dunlop: taking advantage of its three laps ahead of the tenacious Suzuki n ° 1, the pilot returned to the pit to repair the damage. Dominique Melliand can start to believe it !

At 9:00 a.m., everything remains possible for second place on the EWC podium, but also for victory in the Superstock category where the LMS and QERT are only one lap apart. !

Suffice to say that the suspense remains at six hours from the end … Stay tuned !
