When French handed me the handlebars of her mount at the entrance to the Verdon gorges, I told myself that this was not the ideal route for her but hey, by going cool it should be fine… Finally, handlebars are a big word for such a small object placed so low, I’m not used to bracelets and barely perched on them, I wonder if I will succeed in turning this bike..

During the first 15 kilometers I try to break down the movements well, when passing cars I tell myself that she does not have that much fishing, that we are making a big deal out of a not so terrible engine brake only that (I already used my mono to give the little gas that goes well when downshifting but I can tell you that, for having tried it voluntarily without the gas boost, the engine brake is is of course on the SVS), that the position is really zero at ch … (we are directly informed of the presence of each gravel under the front wheel and given the relative comfort of the saddle, the information from the rear also arrives very good), that if the couple is present, the watts are them to absent subscribers, well in short that ultimately it is not such a great bike as that.

It was only shortly before the stop at the Balcons de la Mescla that I realized that the red zone is at more than 10,000rpm and that if on my mono being at more than 6,000rpm it is already martyr him, on that we must be able to push the ratios a little more (until then I had applied myself to changing the ratios between 3500 and 4500 rpm).

When we leave, I’m determined to see what she’s really up to. In the ascent of the Artuby bridge, I push the gears up to 7,500 / 8,000 rpm (at this speed I am on the switch on mine) and it is without problem that I overtake everyone . Well, no problem, that’s saying a lot … Because, I don’t know about you, but I like it when the front wheel ALSO touches the ground … And that of the SVS just waiting to get up … French will then explain to me that he removed a tooth at the front, which amounts to adding 3 and a few (sorry French I forgot the decimals) at the back, well in short it lifts by itself and should still be wary of the right handle (what must it be with a passenger!).

As the kilometers go by, I feel this bike better and better, the braking is excellent, the gearbox a marvel, the watts I finally found them, I start to have fun like crazy and I end up telling myself that if it is fun in the gorges du Verdon, I should enjoy a road let’s say … normal. I follow the direction of Moustiers Ste Marie and head back to Aups before returning to the village of Salles.

And the SVS is then fully revealed, because there are no more bumps, no more gravel but just nickel asphalt, a hilly course with a few straight lines and lots of more or less open curves. I take 190 en pointe (sorry French) but that’s not what I’m looking for particularly on a motorcycle and I enjoy more than 30 km: flawless braking, well-adjusted suspensions (modified from the origin ), the engine watts and a smooth and precise gearbox (ah … if someone from BMW could read these lines …) allow you to devote yourself solely to trying to trace the cleanest possible trajectory.

At the entrance of the first curve, a little tight, a surprise awaited me: barely on the angle I felt my butt slipping off the saddle by itself. I tell myself first that I must have been badly positioned at the start but no, from the 2nd bis repetita curve I find myself almost next to the bike and it looks normal: I’m swaying! Okay, now I say to myself, there is more than going for the vibrator with the knee, right? No, because it’s time to return his toy to French … I don’t know why but he didn’t believe me when I told him that I had taken the wrong route … In summary , the faults that I find are all directly linked to the fact that it is an S version. I can’t wait to try the bare version…
