Site analysis : Danilo Petrucci took advantage of the excellent form of the Ducati at Le Mans to return to the podium which had escaped him from Japan last fall, that is to say seven races outside the Top 3. Right away, "Petrux" has maintained a pace high enough to force Marquez to stay on full throttle until the finish.
Second to 2.3 seconds behind the Honda rider, the n ° 9 won his best result of the season after four races which saw him alternate between the very good (and) and the less good (and). A great satisfaction for the Italian, who can also boast of having kept the experienced Valentino Rossi at bay !
Only small regret: his choice of front tire, in soft rubber, retained Friday following a fall with the medium rubber. For "Petrux", the medium compound – used in particular by Dovizioso – undoubtedly presented a better potential, but the "soft" offered according to him a better margin of safety. In view of the fall of n ° 4, the choice of Petrucci seems wise !
Thanks to this podium, Danilo climbs back up to fifth place in the MotoGP provisional classification with 54 points, against 56 for Valentino Rossi who precedes him on the official Yamaha. Suffice to say that this result is timely for the Italian who still has no handlebars for next season !

Ducati in fact signed a two-year contract in February with Francesco Bagnaia – current leader of the Moto2 championship with three wins in five races – to integrate him into the Pramac team in 2019. But the Bologna Reds have warned Petrucci that the arrival of "Pecco" sealed the end of their collaboration, because Bagnaia would team up with Jack Miller…
Hence an obligation of success for Danilo Petrucci, who hopes to recover the factory bike from Jorge Lorenzo next year. He must therefore be convinced of his ability to form a winning duo with Dovizioso, who has just extended his presence in the official Ducati team. On the other hand, the Bologna brand does not have many other choices to possibly replace Lorenzo: there are not many riders capable of performing in Italian MotoGP. !

Finally, it should be noted that the joy is at its height for the Pramac team since Jack Miller, teammate of Petrucci, finished the GP of France in a superb 4th place in the wake of Rossi! The young Australian appears 6th in the provisional, a few lengths from his box neighbor (49 points against 54).
