Bigger engine, more fun?

Aprilia’s V2 fun bike Dorsoduro gets more displacement for the new season. The nominal power remains at 95 hp, the torque increases moderately to 90 Nm.

The fun bike A.prilia Dorsoduro is based on the Naked Bike Shiver and consequently gets the Euro4-compatible engine enlarged to 900 cm³ in the new model year. You have to look carefully to see the difference to the 750 predecessor – the safest thing is to look at the number "900" on the front of the side panel.

The new engine of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 draws its displacement increase from 11 millimeters more stroke; the nominal output of 95 HP is now at 8750 / min. The maximum torque grew from 82 to 90 Nm, the associated speed shifted from 4500 rpm to 6500 rpm. Aprilia emphasizes, however, that the torque curve of the Dorsoduro 900 engine is higher than that of the 750 at any speed and that its power develops more evenly.

New engine – new electronics; this also applies to the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900. The recently used Marelli control unit communicates on the basis of a large number of sensor parameters with the injection and the electronically controlled throttle valves. There are three mappings (Sport, Touring and Rain) available, which influence the performance development.

The Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 is equipped with a switchable two-channel ABS from Continental and a traction control; The latter intervenes both in the injection and in the ignition in order to catch a spinning rear wheel as gently as possible.

The driver can control and modify the on-board electronics of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 via the 4.3-inch TFT display. The system also allows the optional connection of a smartphone in order to show additional vehicle parameters on its display and vice versa to show the cockpit telephone functions.
