For 2004, Aprilia offers us a brand new RSV-R that will make some noise. The name is somewhat misleading as this model actually replaces the standard RSV – the older generation RSV-R will be replaced by the RSV-R Factory; you follow ? The least we can say is that the news has a mouthful. Smaller, lower, an aggressive design at will and nicely refined, with the added bonus of a forced air intake in the middle of the face as initiated by the Honda SP-1 and also taken up by the Kawa ZX-6RR. The indicators are fully integrated into the machine: in the mirrors at the front and in the shell at the rear. The headlights have been very worked, especially at the rear which looks like that of a spaceship. The RSV-R is shorter and is intended to be more manoeuvrable and faster. To do this, the twin has been redesigned and now outputs 138 hp at the crankshaft. He is now entitled to 2 exhausts to breathe, a new tighter gearbox. The frame and swingarm are new, aluminum alloy rims and braking entrusted to Brembo radial calipers with 1 pad per piston. Verdict: the new RSV-R is 1 sec faster than the previous vintage on the Mugello circuit. This new machine will also be available in a Factory version, wrapped in majestic equipment..
And some little additional info. We have gained weight everywhere: the frame is 600 g lighter and weighs less than 10 kg (9.65); the swing arm loses weight by nearly 10% to drop to 4.86 kg. The engine does not only offer more watts, it has also gone through the “less kilos” box to drop 1,500 gr. The new geometry of the frame, a punchy engine plus a top-notch braking system, all this allows to send big without fighting with the machine. To add a ladle of efficiency, remember that the Aprilia is equipped with an anti-dribble system in the clutch which makes it possible to apply the engine brake without locking the rear wheel. Not only is she beautiful, efficient, much cheaper and more powerful than her compatriot, but an Italian twin who can annoy all 4 Japanese legs, it deserves respect..
