When a MotoGP mechanic, a body builder and a car designer team up, the result has to be beautiful. The Arctos Collection is that combination. A Panigale R as an Ultraleggera is their latest work.

Key data: 165 kilograms dry weight, over 190 hp, frame, rims, fork, swing arm and brake discs made of carbon, racing injection, shock absorbers made of titanium. Price? Not a bargain and also more expensive than the Superleggera models with V2, but absolutely unique and feasible when you call.

High end to madness

Results in over 10 kilos less weight than the standard R and another kilo less than the 1299 Superleggera.

422 Corse, the Swiss importer of the light carbon forks from CeraCarbon, Thyssenkrupp Carbon Components and BST simply wants everything in lightweight carbon for an engine Panigale R from 2015 grab what’s going on. The noble forge Arctos-Collection implemented the plan. An absolutely unique piece was created. At 165 kilograms even a little lighter than the 2017 Superleggera. In order to achieve the 10 kilogram savings compared to the standard R, the men go all out.

Carbon fiber ceramic discs from Sicom are used as brake discs.

They have the frame manufactured by 3C in Landsberg, from where they are sourced Ducati also the frames for the Superbike World Cup and the Superleggeras. FunFact: 3C has been the parent company of Horex since 2015. The rims come from BST, the carbon fork from CeraCarbon and Mupo makes a titanium strut. The whole thing is kept in check by milled Brembo saddles CNC P4.30 / 34 and jumbo pizza-sized Sicom slices made of a siliconized carbon-ceramic composite. So what Porsche and AMG also take for their overrunners. 320 millimeters in diameter, six millimeters thick and only weighs 800 grams per disc. About half of a normal steel disc, which are usually even thinner. In short: Brute braking power.

Jetprime supplies the racing injection. Everything fully programmable.

The 2015 Panigale engine already has 196 hp by default and only differs from the Superleggera engine in the use of steel valves for the exhaust instead of titanium. So there is enough power. MotoGP mechanic Stefan doesn’t even want to increase the performance, he is probably looking for absolute drivability and therefore uses a completely new injection including ignition and new mappings from Jetprime. The new nozzles and intake funnels are milled from aluminum and fit into the Ducati airbox and the original Panigale gasoline system without any further changes.

The finish in the Arcton design provides the cladding made of carbon with a fine silver lacquer and road approval is theoretically possible using lighting and mirrors.

Conclusion

If you just want to go out and show what’s going on, then an already light, strong and noble motorcycle like the Panigale R just becomes a little lighter, stronger and more noble – and in this case also more beautiful.
