New tricycle from Piaggio

The Yourban expands the Piaggio MP3 range with a shorter and more elegant speedster.

M.ith three kinds of qualities, the scooter enthusiast already roared with the predecessor from the MP3 model range of Yourban, the now "Classic" is called, through the city. But now 15 kilos lighter, with a much fresher design and a slimmer line. Although the "Drollers" With 206 kilograms of dry matter it is still not a lightweight, but the driving behavior has improved: In the hustle and bustle of traffic, the Yourban is more agile, thanks primarily to the wheelbase that has been shortened by 44 millimeters and the adjusted steering head angle. Instead of the previous 12-inch wheels, 13-inch wheels are now used. The difference in weight is particularly noticeable when maneuvering, and it also leaned cheerfully – and that is impressive: 40 degrees is considerable for a scooter.

Like its predecessor, thanks to the two front wheels it stays reliably and willingly on course and easily copes with uneven ground. Casual: Your feet stay on the running boards at the traffic lights. A nice favor from Yourban, which is also visually fresh and elegantly dressed. The indicators are integrated into the handlebar trim, and LEDs have been inserted into the lights at the front and rear. Due to the narrower rear, the storage compartment under the bench now offers less space. By the way, the name Yourban is a combination of the words "young" and "urban". With the new scooter, which can be driven with a car driver’s license, Piaggio wants to appeal mainly to young city dwellers. The price of 6890 euros, however, should be a high number for this clientele. The Piaggio MP3 Yourban 300 is not yet available as a hybrid version.

In the city

In the slalom, the foolproof Yourban meanders through stationary cars. However, narrow gaps in traffic should be avoided as the Yourban is a bit wider than a normal city car. The urban scooter rider swims perfectly with the performance in city traffic.

On the country road

Thanks to the two front wheels, the Yourban drives like on rails, in curves the speedster can take a considerable incline. Piaggio’s new MP3 is not extremely light-footed, but drives without the risk of falling. With three braked wheels, the stopping distances are short, even in wet conditions.

On the highway

Yourban is not really suitable for the motorway. Short distances are possible, but not pleasant. The windshield offers fair protection, but the driver sits in full wind and mostly only sees the back of a truck, because with around 22 hp, overtaking maneuvers are tough.
