Aprilia RSV mille versus Falco

Aprilia RSV mille against SL 1000 Falco: Dynamics among themselves

Fuchsrohre, Adenauer Forst, Pflanzgarten: Anyone who thinks these are terms from the world of hunters and gatherers is not so wrong. On the hunt for fast times, you can collect moments of shock, sweaty hands and palpitations here. No matter if you are a beginner or an expert. But you can also experience moments of inner satisfaction here. Namely, once a passage has worked the way the driver wanted it to be. This is especially true for beginners. Of course, the prerequisite is that the motorcycle works. This applies to newbies and cross country foxes alike.
In addition to the Mille, Aprilia offers the Falco. What they both have in common is the rustic V2 heart with a 60 degree cylinder angle, as well as the aluminum bridge frame, which, however, is a little more delicate with the Falco. The seating position and the design of the spring elements, however, differ. For pure racetrack chasing the Mille, for cheerful country road chasing the Falco. But what are the differences? and what stands out better here?
So, let’s go. From the new entrance on the Dottinger Hohe, just go straight on. The Mille’s windbreak is for an athlete. . .Oops, I did it again! This is not about tourist qualities. But it’s not about the last groove either. No times, no experiments, no junk. Be brisk and feel good. That means having enough power, but not too much. Sit tense, but not cramped. Get feedback, but not be shaken. So where were we Oh yes, Dottinger Hohe. Not full throttle, but roll, get set up on the motorcycle. This is easier on the Falco because with the Mille the upper body has to be stretched far over the tank in order to reach the deep handlebars. The Falco is also sporty, but more natural. And it is precisely with this feeling that you go into the winding curves. Left, right, left, right. Past the entrance to the GP course, then sharply left down the hill. While Mille now formally shakes hands with its driver after initial hesitation, Falco and Pilot are already good buddies. With feather-light handling, the sports tourer takes the first bows, swings in precisely, thunders out full from the apex. And then that sharp, quick right. The tendency to turn far too slowly is greater on the Falco than on the Mille, which has now reached the familiar “you” at the latest, because the front wheel-oriented sitting posture encourages you to move a few km / h more. Then both Aprilia step through various Hollywood hams as lightly as Fred Astair blissfully through the subsequent Hatzenbach meandering. Simply beautiful and with a high entertainment value. So it’s no wonder that all six test drivers, Falco and Mille, attest very good handling.
Und so the two twins shoot head to head out of the corner. Push forward sustainably and evenly, the mille a little more sustainably and evenly. Quiddelbacher Hohe, airfield, Schwedenkreuz are waiting. Fast corners, terribly fast. As if in mockery with peaks and valleys in between. Stable chassis are required? and they both have. The Aprilia pops wonderfully precisely and yet always tightly in line with the long double right and ultra-long left arches. With one difference: the Falco’s slightly nervous tail section draws attention to the fact that its reserves are exhausted. The spring is fully pre-tensioned, the rebound damping is almost too tight: it holds up well, but there are limits. But in the Falco case, they are quite high up. As a result, the sports tourer remains true to his destiny and always in the slipstream of the racing sister, whether it’s Fuchsrohre, Klostertal or Hohe Acht. The ground clearance is sufficient for the Nordschleife, the brakes are not super-snappy, but easy to adjust. Both properties that also apply to the V2 heart of the Aprilias. Always enough power, but ?? more importantly ?? never too much. This is good for newbies as well as for amateur racing drivers, and even the professionals are satisfied. The point advantage that Mille collects needs to be interpreted. It accumulates when it gets really fast. At least this side of the nine minutes. If you drive more slowly, the Falco is just as good. And even better on the country road.
