With the sharpened RSV4 wants Aprilia play at the top of the superbikes again. The revision was correspondingly extensive. The completely redesigned fairing was trimmed in the wind tunnel for more wind slippage for more top speed and more downforce on the front wheel for more cornering stability. In addition, the flow to the airbox was optimized and the dynamic pressure and thus the performance increased there.
New winglets and electronics upgrades
Aprilia
The obligatory winglets are now integrated in a double-walled fairing. This improves the stability of the construction and, at the same time, optimizes the ventilation of the engine region without overloading the driver with the waste heat. The new LED headlights give the front a new look, and they also have a cornering light function.
The Italians want the ergonomics of the seat to be more relaxed, but still sporty, with a newly shaped tank and a new bench seat. A grown digital display in the cockpit provides information. The extensive electronics arsenal has been re-tuned on many points. The engine and chassis should respond even more precisely. Everything is controlled by the new six-axis Marelli 11MP control unit. A multi-stage engine drag torque control is new. The operating logic is also more intuitive in the 2021 model year.
More displacement for Euro 5
Aprilia
The chassis of the RS4 Factory is upgraded with a new rear swing arm with a reinforced frame and yet less weight. The V4 engine was also refurbished. Nominally a 1100, the displacement grows from 1,077 to now 1,099 cm³. This should give the unit noticeably more torque. The top performance remains unchanged at 217 hp, which, together with a new exhaust system, is delivered in compliance with the Euro 5 standard.
The new RSV4 is offered in the standard version and in a better equipped factory version. The RSV4 only comes in the Dark Losail color scheme, the RSV4 Factory is available in the color combinations Aprilia Black and Lava Red. The Factory is characterized by forged aluminum rims, the semi-active Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 chassis and Brembo Stylema brake calipers.
Both models will be available from February 2021. Prices including VAT and ancillary costs start at 21,690 euros for the Aprilia RSV4 and from 25,690 euros for the factory version.
Conclusion
Aprilia has extensively revised the RSV4 for the Euro 5 conversion. The displacement grows, the incredible performance remains. A lot of things were done in terms of aerodynamics and electronics.
