BMW is celebrating three world premieres at the Intermot 2008 motorcycle trade fair (8th to 8th November). until 12. October) with the revised K series – all three bikes are powered by a 1,239 cc in-line four-cylinder engine, which is configured differently depending on the model.

The models will be available from February 2009.
The new K 1300 S as the successor to the K 1200 S with an output of 129 kW/175 hp and a weight of 254 kg is the most powerful and fastest BMW of all time. The maximum torque of 140 nm is 8 250 rpm, an increase of ten Nm compared to the predecessor. The standard integral ABS ensures safety. The HP shift assistant for upshifting without an interruption in traction is available as an option. The basic version of the fully clad street athlete costs from 15,750 euros.
The second in the group is the K 1300 R, the successor to the K 1200 R, which was presented four years ago as the most powerful naked bike of all time. And the new one is again the manufacturer’s most powerful naked: 127 kW/173 hp with a weight of 243 kilograms and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 8,250 rpm speak for themselves. The chassis geometry, which has been revised compared to the previous model, should ensure even more agility with the same high level of driving stability. Add to that the muscular design: Tank and front-wheel swing cover look as if a sculpture had been built into the bike – an optics that corresponds to performance. The price is 13 750 euros.
BMW is embarking on a long journey with the new K 1300 GT, which, as a Gran Turismo, is intended to meet high demands in terms of driving dynamics and long-distance suitability. The engine of the predecessor of the K 1200 GT has an output of 118 kW/160 hp and a maximum torque of 135 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The 288-kilogram tourer should enable brisk travel. The price list starts at 17,600 euros.
In addition to the new edition of the K series, BMW also gives a preview of the new S 1000 RR. A foretaste of the Superbike World Championship 2009 should be given with the super sportswoman in racing trim. BMW’s entry into Superbike racing is not happening, as the manufacturer explained at Intermot, just to be there. Munich are clearly aiming for the world championship title. When normal mortals can bring the race talents of the S 1000 RR to the street, is not yet known.
