The little multistrada

Ducati presented a new member of the Multistrada family at EICMA 2016 in Milan: the Ducati Multistrada 950.

Ducati’s goal when developing the latest Multistrada was to develop a compact motorcycle that is ideal for everyday use in addition to longer journeys. The new Ducati is combined purely optically M.ultistrada 950 elements of the larger sister models Multistrada 1200 and Multistrada 1200 Enduro. The front of the new Multistrada 950 is reminiscent of the Multistrada 1200. The seat, pillion cushion, rear grab handles, exhaust and swing arm design and the wheel size, on the other hand, come from the Enduro.

The new Ducati Multistrada 950 is powered by the Testastretta two-cylinder engine with 937 cm³, which makes 113 hp at 9,000 rpm. The maximum torque of 96.2 Nm is available at 7,750 rpm. Ducati has slightly modified the engine for the new model. For example, new cylinder heads with a newly designed oil circuit and secondary inlet ports are used.

Suspension elements, brakes, tires, assistance systems and colors

Ducati has given the new Ducati Multistrada 950 an upside-down fork with a 48 mm standpipe diameter and 170 mm travel. Spring preload, compression and rebound damping are adjustable. A Sachs shock absorber is used at the rear, which can also be adjusted. When it comes to tires, Ducati has opted for the Pirelli Scropion Trail II in sizes 120/70 R19 at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear. Two Brembo M4.32 monobloc radial brake calipers with four 32 mm pistons should ensure safe braking maneuvers.

The new Ducati Multistrada 950 will be launched next year with numerous assistance systems. Future pilots can look forward to ABS from Bosch, traction control and the four driving modes Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro, among other things.
