Jan-Ole Jahnig secured the best time in the 1st free practice in Oschersleben. The German Yamaha rider burned a 1: 41.636 into the asphalt. For a long time the Dutchman Finn de Bruin was at the top of the timesheet. In the end it was only enough for the second fastest lap with a 1: 41.819. Third was Joep Overbeeke (Yamaha) with 1: 42.340. The only Kawasaki rider in the field, Philippe Cavegn, landed in 17th position (1: 52.641).

2nd free practice (September 1st, 1:55 pm to 2:20 pm)

Jan-Ole Jahnig also secured the best time in the 2nd free practice. The German Yamaha rider improved his best time from the first free practice once again and lapped the course in 1: 40.237. Unchanged picture also in places 2 to 4: like in the 1st free practice, Finn de Bruin (1: 40.822) landed ahead of Joep Overbeeke (1: 41.357) and Maximilian Kappler (1: 41.406).

Bad luck for Yamaha rider Jaro Hoekstra: the Dutchman fell shortly before the end of the 2nd free practice session.

2nd qualifying (2.9., 12:00 to 12:25 p.m.)

Jan-Ole Jahnig and Maximilian Kappler fight an internal team duel for the title in the IDM Supersport 300. Both drive a Freudenberg Yamaha. Jahnig is currently 19 points ahead of the internationally experienced Saxony, who did not go well in the first timed practice. Kappler had to line up behind his 16-year-old team-mate again in the second training session and was sixth in the field, in which the concentrated armada of Dutch riders is at the start again.

The country neighbors drive in the race with separate valuation, as their motorcycles may be more powerful according to their regulations. Nonetheless: Jan-Ole Jahnig took pole position in the last ten minutes of the second qualifying and was the only driver to achieve a time below 1: 40.00 minutes. Jahnig cracked the magical limit with a remarkable 1: 39.840 min. (Anke Wieczorek)

1st race (3.9., 10.15 a.m.)

It was tight in the first corner, but Jan-Ole Jahnig could not be displaced from the front. The 16-year-old high school student from Thuringia set off fireworks on the Freudenberg Yamaha in the Motorsport Arena. The IDM Supersport 300 is a new junior class, of which there is already a world championship that will be held as part of the Superbike World Championship.

While Jan Ole-Jahnig continued to break away from the chasing group with a steadily growing lead, it was much more exciting behind him. Maximilian Kappler rushed from sixth to third position in the first lap, in the last lap he prevailed over the Dutch Joep Overbeeke in the last few meters, although the country neighbors are rated separately. But for Kappler it was a question of honor to finish in front of the Dutchman. His lead: 19 thousandths of a second. (Anke Wieczorek)

2nd race (3.9., 2:15 p.m.)

A wet second run made Maximilian Kappler’s hope for the title a little more tangible again. Because he crossed the finish line ahead of his Freudenberg Yamaha team-mate Jan-Ole Jahnig and was awarded five points more than his pit neighbor, who is still easily leading the overall standings. Kappler passed his competitor in the second lap. Polesetter Jahnig had nothing to laugh about this time.

In the first race he was even better than the Dutch in the field, but on the wet track he soon found himself in sixth position, while Kappler was in fifth place. In the IDM classification, however, the two boys were in the first two places. Jahnig now has to show strong nerves at the finale in Hockenheim if he wants to convert his table lead into his first IDM Supersport 300 title. There was also a change in third position. Instead of Troy Bude in the first run, Lukas Franke was now on the podium. (Anke Wieczorek)
