Kromworks from Jakarta has turned a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 from 2017 into a shiny chrome design object.

Somebody has to say it: When it comes to custom bikes, the hottest boxes are currently forging the boys and girls from Indonesia. Irrespective of the model and style, wild designs are used here and, to top it all, the workmanship is extremely good. Anyone who has ever seen a tropical-Asian custom workshop knows that you can easily sizzle clean without a welding table and that grandma keeps the sack for aluminum in good shape with a needle and thread. After Lil’Pussy from Zambrak Candra from Bali now another proof: the Icarus from Kromworks.

The engine stays

As a basic model for the Ikarus one Royal Enfield Bullet 500 to mention is not even half correct: Andika Pratama from Kromworks takes over only the blissful long-stroke single of British construction and Indian production. He builds everything around the stew himself. He forms the frame with its almost vertical downtubes from steel plates eight millimeters thick. He builds the slim swingarm from the same material. This is supported almost invisibly by a short spring strut in a pocket in the rear frame. A self-made trapezoidal fork, also made of steel tubes, now works in the steering head. The fork carries a 21-inch spoked wheel, built on a self-milled aluminum hub combined with a Dupley drum brake. Andika installs something similar in the swing arm: A hub, also made of aluminum, rotates there, which is the housing of the drum brake and the final drive at the same time. Everything in one component and provided with fine bronze grids for ventilation of the brake and also with a 21-inch rim.

Stainless steel body

Andika fits a small tank and various brackets for the battery onto the steel frame. Above it, he drives a monocoque out of sheet steel, as if it had grown. The part runs very slim over the frame and ends in an integrated rump for the rear lighting. Andika also puts the front lighting behind bars while the handlebars are moved through a minimal recess in the steel.

Conclusion

How many cans of polishing floss are needed after a short drive? Quite likely. Gorgeous Kustom Art from Indonesia by Kromworks. The Icarus is beautiful and wonderfully built. Incidentally, the conversion was ordered directly from Andika from London and delivered seven months later.
