Maverick Vinales, who started from 2nd place, only drove one complete lap, lost the front in the second and, in 4th position, was out of the race. Dani Pedrosa started from 4th place, took the lead straight away and took turns with Marquez at the top.
Valentino Rossi started from P3 and followed the two Hondas at a distance. Johann Zarco, who started from P5, started on lap 7 to overtake Rossi on the inside. He had no other option to avoid the dedicated rookie than to take a shortcut that brought him closer to the two Honda drivers. Therefore, the race management grunted the Doctor a time penalty of 0.3. He understood that, but not for Zarco’s maneuver: “For me, today’s penalty was not correct, because I only had two options: faster or fall. But the problem wasn’t the race management, Zarco was the problem. It’s very fast, it drives very well and has great potential, but it’s not Moto2 and if you want to overtake you have to do it in a different way. He always does it for the last moment. He has to calm down a bit. “
The anger was limited at Valentino Rossi, because with second place he takes over the World Cup lead.
