From position eleven on the grid, Jonas Folger will start the race on Sunday at 9:00 p.m. After the good start to the season in Qatar, the German MotoGP rookie was not entirely satisfied with starting position 11 at the Grand Prix of Argentina. After all, Folger landed in qualifying in Termas de Rio Hondo ahead of his team-mate Johann Zarco, who will start the race on Sunday from 14th place on the grid. After excellent performances in the free practice sessions, Folger has very promising prospects for a good placement in the race on Sunday.

Anything is possible in the race

In an official press release from his Monster Yamaha Tech3 team, Jonas Folger said: “It was a tricky situation today, but I did my best and I’m confident for tomorrow. In the fourth free practice session, the track was completely wet, the front springs were a bit too hard, so we decided to use a softer setting for qualifying. Anyway, the road dried up during the second qualifying and we didn’t have enough time to reset the settings as a result. Ultimately, we fitted new tires, which had a positive effect on the front suspension settings. Nevertheless, I was somewhat restricted. I think we are in a very promising position for tomorrow’s race. We have made some progress in terms of the bumps on the track compared to yesterday and we are excited to see how the bike will perform in the warm up. I feel very good and I am sure that we will do a good job in the race. “

Noticeably behind Marquez

The qualifying deficit on pole-setter Marc Marquez was an impressive 2.3 seconds. The Spanish world champion coped best with the difficult conditions and landed on pole position by a large margin. In contrast, Folger’s deficit on the best Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales in qualifying was just 0.6 seconds. For tomorrow’s race, at least in dry conditions, everything should still be possible. The good results of Abraham, Crutchlow & Co. in qualifying also show that nothing seems impossible even in wet conditions.
