Fourth place in first free practice; Eighth place in the second free practice; 15th place in the third free practice and sixth place in the fourth free practice! The training sessions in Argentina were relatively promising for Jonas Folger. After the good performance in the practice runs, the German MotoGP rookie had to be satisfied with a rather disappointing eleventh place on the grid in qualifying. Things went better for the reigning world champion Marc Marquez late on Saturday evening. The young Spaniard secured first place on the grid in difficult conditions. The Czech Karel Abraham surprisingly landed behind them. No less surprising is the third-placed finish in qualifying at Termas de Rio Hondo: Cal Crutchlow.

Vinales top in the training sessions!

World Championship leader Maverick Vinales finished sixth in qualifying. The Spaniard still dominated the training sessions. However, the onset of rain at the beginning of the fourth free practice gave Vinales a hard time. The gap to Marc Marquez in qualifying was more than 1.5 seconds. Vinales team-mate Valentino Rossi landed on position 7 in qualifying. The top 10 is completed by Danilo Petrucci, Dani Pedrosa, Aleix Espargaro, Loris Baz and Alvaro Bautista. The two Ducati works drivers who could not qualify for the second qualifying round experienced a qualifying to forget. In the end, Dovizioso will start the race from position 13; Lorenzo will only start from position 16 on Sunday. The two KTM works drivers Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro will start behind Lorenzo. The MotoGP race starts on Sunday at 9:00 p.m..
