Peugeot P2X Concept
Outlook on the first new motorcycle
EICMA 2019
After Mahindra took over Peugeot Motorcycles completely, they want to return to the motorcycle market. The EICMA study P2X gives a first outlook.
The Indian Mahindra group had been on since 2004 Peugeot Motorcycles, in 2015 the stake in the French was increased to 51 percent. The two-wheeler manufacturer was then completely taken over in October 2019. And the new owners have a clear goal: After almost 70 years of abstinence, they want to be back in the motorcycle market by 2021. So far, Peugeot had limited itself to scooters in different displacement classes.
Single cylinder in two displacement variants
A first concrete outlook on a new Peugeot motorcycle was given at the EICMA: the Peugeot P2X Concept study. In 2018, Peugeot had already shown two corresponding studies. The P2X comes as a naked bike in two displacement variants with 125 and 300 cm³. The liquid-cooled single cylinders sit in a tubular steel frame and exhale through a fat, short double-pipe rear silencer on the right-hand side. In front of this, an engine guard is spread out. At the front there is a gold-colored USD fork, at the rear there are stereo struts with a reservoir.
The driver reaches into a wide tubular handlebar, looks at a 5-inch digital display in the cockpit, which can also integrate smartphones, reaches over a 12-liter flat tank and sits on a flat bench with a cover for the pillion passenger. The entire lighting is based on LED technology. The new Peugeot series motorcycles should then be on display at EICMA 2020.
