Heating dwarf under 6000 euros
We have a soft spot for the middle class: year after year, PS takes it “Little ones” Properly to see what the bread-and-butter motorcycles can do. In the past few years in particular there has been a lot of movement in this segment; the concepts are broad.
Yamaha offered the FZ6 for this. The bestseller did more than badly in the horsepower tests: Their very pointed 600cc four-cylinder from older R6 days was too special, without punch at moderate speeds. With the newly presented XJ6 Yamaha is part of the team again.
Especially in the lower segment of the class, where it’s not top performance and a sporty chassis, but simple handling, balanced engine characteristics and a good price-performance ratio that dictate the sales arguments. So they did their homework in Hamamatsu.
The completely redesigned 600 engine now does what a mid-range bike should be able to do for novice riders and rediscoverers of the fascination of motorcycles: it pushes out of the center quite willingly, develops a beautifully harmonious performance curve, brings the necessary smoothness and offers just enough power In order to sweep away with relish on country roads, to be on the road in the city and not to lose the smile at the insurance broker: The 78 hp are distributed according to customer requirements.

The XJ6 is consistent, looks like a lot of motorcycle and costs less than 6000 euros in the base.
The somewhat hard throttle response is tolerable. The transmission also cuts a fine figure despite its relatively long shift travel. The gears engage precisely, the idle ?? very calming especially for beginners especially in city traffic ?? is very easy to find. This target group, as well as those returning to work and many women, should be pleased with the low seat height. The sitting position is generally very relaxed. For a more committed ride, the handlebars are quite close to the driver, but this can be easily changed using the handlebar clamps (they are simply turned around).
The chassis with a non-adjustable fork and a strut that can only be influenced in the spring base is of course not as crisp as that of the FZ6. But it offers balanced handling and sufficient comfort, as appropriate to the type. It is not surprising that the jagged low flight over wild bumps quickly pushes it to its limits and that it is far too soft for sporty contemporaries; such are the requirements of this class. In any case, the brake moves over it, which is easy to dose and sometimes accompanies a wild attack.
Conclusion
Conclusion: With the XJ6, Yamaha has made a precision landing in the middle class. It is balanced, has a dynamic look and vies for buyers with a fair price. The engine is harmonious, the chassis meets the class standard. Here and there, as with the brake, a primus flashes out.
