Presentation of the Yamaha XV 535 with custom kit
Change of scenery
Does your life with the XV 535 seem gray and boring to you? Then bring some color into your life – with the custom kit from Yamaha.
D.he XV 535 was late, but it was huge. Originally designed for the American customer, the rounded chopper did not debut on the German market until 1988. It was supposed to be the start of a dream career: the number of registrations increasing from year to year made the XV 535 the undisputed bestseller, almost 40,000 machines have meanwhile been registered. The downsides of this track record are obvious: For the individual XV owner, the dream of an individual base has long been over, unless he sets out to give his XV 535 its own face. Thanks to the help of the importer, this is not only easy to say, but also done quickly and easily. A comprehensive custom kit is now available from every authorized Yamaha dealer, which will clad the XV 535 (built in 1989 to 1995) from head to toe.

New, but based on a tried-and-tested pattern: tank (made of plastic), rear wheel fender (made of sheet metal) with raised license plate and dummy air filter are unmistakably based on the Harley Sportster. The quality of the custom kit components does not receive unqualified applause. While the accuracy of fit is okay, the finish of the (black or red) painted parts can be criticized: When there is light – more precisely: when there is backlight – it becomes apparent that the surface quality is far from being as good as the standard parts. They probably can’t either, because the complete kit (only available as a complete set) costs just 1795 marks. In addition, the workshop costs (approx. 250 marks) and in any case the fees for the TÜV acceptance (approx. 80 marks) must be calculated.
