Race bike: Micron Fireblade
Budget racer from Franconia
Content of
Micron Systems from Furth has made a name for itself with specifically improved, perfectly mobile and not at all expensive conversions. For the PS Tuner GP 2008, the Franconians brought a current Fireblade with them, which is completely dedicated to this more-than-seem concept. A chic disguise doesn’t do any harm.
Micron Fireblade
A F.ireblade is amazingly good fresh off the counter; It is not easy to improve them with a reasonable effort. And then adding drivability for everyday use will be really tricky. Just the thing for Armand Mottier, the head of Micron Systems. He prefers to leave the big drill to others, he relies on precision work in detail and know-how; his interventions in the mechanics remain within manageable, well-measured limits. The cylinder head is planned very gently, which in conjunction with a thinner base gasket increases the compression to a reasonable 13.5: 1. Mottier’s self-developed camshafts control the gas exchange. To ensure that the timing is one hundred percent correct, elongated holes on the camshaft gears enable meticulous adjustment. Mottier then removes uncleanliness and burrs in the airways and finally adjusts the crankcase ventilation. Just as meticulously, the busy Nuremberg man tackles the periphery. The vacuum flap in the intake system flies out; the series funnels are exchanged for short aluminum counterparts. Exhaling is made easier by a Micron system with a titanium muffler, which is still a prototype in the pictures? but already close to the standard.
A power commander takes care of the portioning of the injection quantities and has its own mapping for each cylinder. At its side is an ignition module, which also provides each cylinder with its ignition map. It even offers the option of gear-dependent coordination. Using the toggle switch on the handlebars, two different maps can be selected while driving. Even if these measures look more like detailed work than the ultimate tuning hammer, the result is convincing: a performance curve like out of a textbook, straight uphill. The pepped up Honda-Four answers the slightest twitch of the throttle valve directly, hangs razor-sharp on the line, pushes neatly from below. At 6000 rpm there is bold print, and from 8000 rpm the cardboard burns. The Blade cheers in a lively, linear and free manner until it is locked.
Remodeling measures
If we absolutely have to find a hair in the soup, it might be this: load changes could be a little smoother in the first half of the speed range, which works better in the second half. Mottier also has the right chassis for this temperament bolt. The fork, which was converted by Hubert Hoffmann (HH-Racetech), pleases with its rich damping and sensitive response, which gives a good feeling, especially in tricky situations such as the right turn before the start / finish. The front offers a useful adjustment range; A Matris strut works on the hindquarters. The tightly tuned part keeps the swing arm in check even if the four-cylinder in the long parabolic falls on the rear tire. Hockenheim connoisseurs know what comes next: the hairpin. No problem for the SBS rubbers in the original pliers. However, they do need some temperature before they can really get there. The cladding with headlights is street legal; Mottier has a license plate holder in its program ?? so the Micron-Blade is a very hot buddy for the home line.
