Shoei replaces the NXR with the NXR 2. The new sporty full-face helmet made of fiberglass will be available from September 2021 in 18 versions and with a five-year guarantee.

Professionally drives world champion Marc Marquez the Shoei X-Spirit III. In his private life – that’s how Shoei would have you believe it – he races through the Spanish hinterland with his brother and the new NXR2. Shoei calls his new sporty full-face helmet the concentrate of a Shoei. So he should all Benefits and Techniques of Shoei combine, weigh little, withstand a lot and, together with the new lining, effectively reduce the noise in the helmet.

Security of the new NXR2

The outer shell of the new NXR2 from Shoei consists of the well-known Advanced Integrated Matrix (AIM), a five-layer structure of differently processed fibers based on glass fibers. They should make the helmet equally light and elastic in the event of a fall at low speed and stiff in the event of an accident at high speed. Inside, an EPS dome with areas of different density absorbs the fall energy and dissipates it. The newly designed inner lining is equipped with a large emergency release system for the cheek pads in order to prevent the risk of (further) injury to the cervical spine when the helmet is taken off in the event of first aid. Just like motorsport, the chin strap of the new NXR2 is closed with a double D-ring. D.he new NXR2 is the first Shoei to be homologated according to the new ECE 22.06 standard.

Comfort and fit of the new NXR2

Shoei equips the new NXR2 with a new removable and washable lining. As usual, the cheek pads are available in different thicknesses. Shoei developed the outer shell in four different sizes that are used for the 7 helmet sizes. The NXR2 is available in sizes XXS to XXL. The weight of the helmet is given as 1,390 grams in size M and can go up or down by up to 50 grams, depending on the size. The preparation for an intercom system seems nicely done: If no loudspeakers are installed near the ears, the corresponding bag is covered by a piece of full-fledged cushion. The new CWR-F2 visor of the NXR2 has a centrally located lock for the first time.

Ventilation of the new NXR2

The new outer shell of the Shoei NXR2 has a total of six inlet openings, distributed over the chin, forehead and the front of the skull. Together with the four non-closable outlet openings on the back of the head, the ventilation system should ensure a pleasant helmet climate.

Colors, price and availability

Shoei will be launching the new NXR2 in September 2021. A total of 18 color variants are offered. The prices for the plain-lacquered helmets in white and black are 479 euros, the simple matt lacquered versions are 499 euros and the graphically refined versions are 599 euros.
