Spidi Mission-T Jacket in the test
Three jackets that can be combined in many ways

One for all cases – this is what almost every textile combination promises. The new Mission-T also uses three different layers for this. However, these are designed in such a way that they can also be used individually and can therefore also be purchased individually.

The Mission-T is a complete package that can be combined with the manufacturer’s textile trousers via zip or the typical Spidi leg loops to make a touring suit. In principle, the jacket also goes well with motorcycle jeans or other textile trousers. The cut and fit are, as is typical of the brand, more figure-hugging, which suits slim drivers very much.

The lowest layer takes on the protective function

What fundamentally differentiates the concept from other touring textiles is the arrangement of the protective layer, which in the Mission-T is located on the inside in the form of the basic jacket. The protectors remain where they should be in every configuration. The very airy and light mesh jacket also provides abrasion protection in the areas at risk. This creates a good level of protection and is perfect on its own for hot temperatures or off-road use. It can also be combined with casual jackets.

Can also be used as casual jackets

Together with the wind- and waterproof outer jacket, it becomes a touring jacket that, depending on the temperature, can be supplemented with the pleasantly soft softshell jacket. Without time-consuming fastening with buttons or zippers, even if hidden snaps allow this if necessary. Since all jackets are equipped with reflectors, a combination of a basic jacket and a softshell is also possible. The additional jackets require more space in the luggage than thinner thermal or membrane inlays, but soft and / or hardshell are explicitly wearable on foot or even in leisure time without a motorcycle look. The hardshell jacket even has a hood and waterproof zippers. Motorcyclists also replace one or the other item of clothing with it. In addition, all jackets have many pockets and a lot of storage space for small items.

Temperature range from 5 to 40 degrees Celsius

With a T-shirt and all three layers, the Mission-T stays cozy up to around five degrees Celsius, and we recommend an additional thermal layer underneath. However, this impressive temperature range, i.e. from around 5 to 40 degrees Celsius, also has gaps. For example, on some days in spring or autumn, when it is already too cold with the basic jacket, but the combination with the outer jacket (despite ventilation openings under the armpits) is too warm. Due to the concept, the softshell jacket does not offer any separate ventilation. Like the outer material of the outer jacket, it also seems a bit too sensitive for hard off-road excursions. The basic jacket is more robust. It is also unpleasant that the (retrofittable) back protector is not in a closed inner pocket, but rather hangs out at the bottom due to the attachment to two Velcro points, which, however, has no effect on the function. The back armor tested (in the large version) offers extensive coverage up to the tailbone.

Conclusion

Overall, the inverted three-in-one concept impresses with its versatility and successful implementation. The area of application is very large, the individual jackets can also be used in everyday life and they are very comfortable to wear. Shortcoming: The back protector is – as is so often the case with motorcycle jackets – not included. For what is on offer, EUR 679.90 is a fair price. If you just want to add to your existing equipment, you can buy the jackets individually for 379.90 (Mission-T-Shield), 129.90 (Mission-T-Softshell) or 199.90 (Tech Armor), depending on your needs.
