Stuart Parr Collection – The motorcycle as an art object
“Art of the Italian Two Wheel”
The world has never seen anything like it. In the middle of Manhattan, a designer is showing a sensational collection of Italian motorcycles. The “Art of the Italian Two Wheel” stages fantastically beautiful machines as art objects.

Benelli, Ducati, Laverda, Magni, Motobi, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, all top Italian brands are there. Beautiful motorcycles, most of them from the 1960s to 1980s, in incredibly good condition. The 26 Italian women are artfully staged on the generously glazed and gutted ground floor of a skyscraper in Manhattan’s Bryant Park District.

Machines act like movie stars
An ambience in which the valuable machines act like film stars on the red carpet. The owner is Stuart Parr. Millionaire, all-rounder, designer, architect and film producer (e.g. Eminem film “8 Mile”). The charismatic New Yorker is particularly fascinated by the four-cylinder MV Agusta of the 1970s. He probably has the best examples in the world. Even then, these machines with the powerful drive were not normal motorcycles, but luxury goods with charisma. Ian Falloon, Stuart’s friend and author of the text accompanying the exhibition, is considered one of the most competent experts on Italian motorcycles. In the 1970s, he lectured, when the British bike industry disappeared and mass production began in Japan, the enthusiasm for aesthetic motorcycles continued to burn in Italian companies, many of whom were directly inspired by the racetrack. You can do that especially with the old ones Ducati see. So much manual work, so much idealism, yes love, no one is like the other. We understand: this is art.
Stuart’s exhibition in New York runs until the end of July. Then he would like to establish a traveling exhibition. The Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli wants to help him bring his collection to the EICMA in Milan. Then maybe Munich?
