The prescribed dimensions of wheel covers are regulated in Section 36a of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO).

The prescribed dimensions of wheel covers are regulated in Section 36a of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). According to this, the rear mudguard on motorcycles must cover the upper half of the wheel and may end no more than 150 millimeters above the horizontal center plane of the wheel ” with an unloaded, free-standing motorcycle, mind you. A reflector must generally be available, round or square is permitted ” The main thing is with the certification mark, which must not be higher than 900 millimeters above the ground with its upper edge (for motorcycles with first registration before 1.1.1987 the lower edge counts).
