In many cases, series tires are not the best solution; manufacturers have different priorities for original equipment. It’s about money, contracts or certain focal points in the function. The Suzuki rolls naturally GSX-S 1000 F on Dunlop Sportmax D 214. Certainly not a bad tire, so the sports tourer works quite well. But there are definitely better tires. A good opportunity to make better use of the machine’s performance the first time you change tires.

As part of the endurance test, MOTORRAD tested a number of alternative tire pairings that have different strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the operating conditions, the owner of a Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F should choose the right tires for him. Some work better with a sporty driving style, others are better all-round tires with good wet grip.

Continental SportAttack 3

After a few meters, the Conti gives you a perfect feeling for grip. Very handy and neutral, it steers in at an incline and delivers a lot of grip up to deep inclines. It scores with low set-up torque and very good straight-line stability. Only when it is wet is it not quite on the level of touring sports tires. The recommendation for speedy Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F pilots.

Dunlop Roadsmart 3

Compared to the standard tires of the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F, the Roadsmart 3 provides better feedback for the grip. He gives in more easily and neutrally. At top speed, however, not as directionally stable as the series tires. It has almost no righting moment when braking in an inclined position, combines low steering forces with good grip – even in the wet. Much more recommendable than the standard tires.

Dunlop Sportmax D 214

The series tires of the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F are pleasing with their good straight-line stability, but have little feedback and self-damping when cold. When brought up to temperature, the D 214 still does not reach the balanced level of Roadsmart 3. It also always wants to be tilted with emphasis. Recommended: switch to Roadsmart 3 when replacing, for example.

Metzeler Roadtec 01

the Metzeler convinces with good feedback for the grip, is more manageable than the series tires of the Suzuki GSX-S 1000 F, albeit a touch behind the Roadsmart 3. But its straight-line stability is exemplary. Although its righting moment when braking in an inclined position is slightly greater than with the Roadsmart 3, it scores in the wet with the best feedback and grip.

Pirelli Diablo Rosso III

the Pirelli if you want to warm up, then feedback, liability and agility are all right. Its righting moment when braking in an inclined position is slightly greater than that of the Conti. The Rosso III can only show its qualities at increasing speed. At a brisk pace extremely stable with exemplary straight-line stability. The wet grip is absolutely fine for a sports tire.
