New Honda models for beginners: three half, please

A basic engine for three models, so Honda already had success last year. Now that should be repeated with slightly smaller two-cinyliners.

Already last year Honda stopped. With the NC-700 series, not only three new models aimed at the beginner clientele were presented. These were also offered at prices of around 6000 euros, which were hardly thought possible. This was realized using a modular system in which the frame, engine and other add-on parts are identical for all three models.
This year, the Japanese are repeating the move. CB 500 is the base name for three models in the half-litre class. As with the NC series, there is an all-rounder called the CB 500 F and an all-roader called the CB 500 X. But this time the third model offered is not a scooter, but an athlete, the CBR 500 R. The CB series also has one thing in common with last year’s NC series: the low price. This is how the CB 500 F costs around 5500, the athlete CBR 500 R and the CB 500 X beat with just under 6000 euros to be booked, with approximately 260 euros as a transfer of overpouring costs.
New two-cylinder
The basis for the three-bande is a rowzweilinder engine with 471 cubic centimeter displacement, a new construction specifically for the CB series. In all three he does 35 kW / 48 hp and produces a torque of 43 Newton meters in 7,000 tours. This indicates that in contrast to the 700 Series in the NC series, the engine goes to work in the NC series, and especially at the athlete for more emotions. After all, the red area starts there at 9000 turns.
And first test drives have quite confirmed the impression. Although the engine begins to behave, but in 5000 tours, noticeable thrust sets up to almost the red area. The seating position is not too sporty both at the all-rounder, the CB 500 F and the athlete 500 R, especially what the knee knew is concerned. Unusual is the union front brake, but already the first pulling on the brake lever shows that it is fully at height – and additionally ABS-reinforced.

Anyone who often travels as a couple should pay attention to the other two models, the all-rounder CB 500 F or the CB 500 X, intended for touring and bumpy terrain, which offer more comfort for pillion riders and accessories such as heated grips for touring , panniers or luggage rack is available.
