Wunderlich exhaust deflector: GS without roar
Wunderlich exhaust deflector Gonzzoo
No more droning with cases attached to the GS
With the cases mounted, a low-frequency roar seems to be audible on the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1200 GS. This is where the Wunderlich exhaust deflector Gonzzoo should help.

The low-frequency roar of the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1200 GS equipped with suitcases speaks Whimsical of a “Point that is always discussed”. The roar is particularly noticeable in partial and full load operation at speeds between 80 and 130 km / h. “Some drivers report that the noise can cause discomfort on longer journeys.”, So Wunderlich, which is why the BMW accessories specialist is now taking care of the concerns of many customers.
Wheel housing and inside of the case as a resonance chamber
The Gonzzoo exhaust deflector is now supposed to help. At the beginning of the development, Wunderlich first had to find out where the roar originated. The developers were able to locate the area of the inside of the case and the rear wheel arch as a resonance space. Makes sense, because the rear silencer mounted on the right also protrudes into this area. In this way, the sound pressure that escapes at the muffler is amplified in the described resonance chamber.
Wunderlich’s solution: redirecting or diverting the sound pressure and exhaust gas flow from the rear silencer. And that is what the deflector takes care of. Made of stainless steel, it deflects the sound pressure and shields it upwards and to the side, making the two GS models – including the Adventure variants – a little quieter for the environment. In addition, the deflector also ensures that the right case on the motorcycle does not heat up as much.
The Wunderlich Gonzzoo is small and shouldn’t take up much space. On the go, thanks to the spring tensioner, it should be able to be assembled or disassembled at any time and used flexibly anywhere.
Exhaust deflector with ABE for 79.90 euros
Measurements by TuV Rhineland for issuing the ABE should prove that the permissible limit values for the sound pressure level of the original exhaust system are not changed. “The conclusion of the administrative act at the KBA, which concludes the official issuing of the ABE for the BMW R 1250 GS (incl. Adventure) and the BMW R 1200 GS LC (incl. Adventure), can be expected soon.”, so the information from Wunderlich.
Wunderlich will be offering the exhaust deflector Gonzzoo from February for all BMW R 1200 GS and R 1250 GS LC as well as the respective Adventure models at a price of 79.90 euros. The deflector is designed for the original rear silencer.
Conclusion
With the exhaust deflector Gonzzoo, Wunderlich is responding to the needs of its customers and the GS riders among them. Never again “malaise” – at least not one that is caused by the roar of the GS with suitcases for some.
