The 2020 Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship will not stop on the circuits of Silverstone (United Kingdom) and Phillip Island (Australia) following the outright cancellation of the GP of Great Britain and Australia due to of Covid-19… Explanations.

According to the latest information from MNC, the resumption should take place around July 20 and include two races per weekend on several circuits, such as Misano (Italy), Aragon and Valencia (Spain). As a reminder, the Grand Prix of Great Britain and Australia were to take place from August 28 to 30 and from October 23 to 25 respectively. This is the first time since the creation of the championship in 1949 that Great Britain will not host the premier class, after having hosted an event on the Isle of Mans from 1949 to 1976 and then on the circuits from Silverstone and Donington Park.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports : "We are sad to have to announce the cancellation of these iconic events, having come to the conclusion that no way exists to resolve the logistical and operational problems resulting from the pandemic and the revamped schedule. Silverstone and Phillip Island are still two of the most exciting weekends of the season, these two tracks never fail to deliver some of the tightest races in our championship. On behalf of Dorna, I would like once again to thank the fans for their understanding and their patience as we wait for the situation to improve.
