Vitpilen 701 conversion for Charles Leclerc
Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc also has a passion for motorcycles. Now he has had a Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 converted according to his wishes.
The Ferrari Formula 1 youngster Charles Leclerc, like many of his colleagues, has a passion for two-wheelers. In the past few months, the Monegasse has bought an individual bike based on a Husqvarna from the French custom bike manufacturer “Bad Winners” VLet itpilen 701 build up.
The contact with the customizer was made via Instagram. “He wrote me that he liked my bikes and asked if it would be possible to make one for him,” recalls bike builder Walid. The contact details were quickly exchanged and the modalities clarified. From the very beginning, Leclerc had clear ideas of what his new machine should look like. “He told me that our bike ‘The Apex’, which we designed a few years ago based on a Yamaha FZS600, is his favorite,” says Walid. “He wanted a bike in a similar style, based on the Husqvarna Vitpilen 701.” The result was the Apex 2.0.

Many carbon attachments
The standard wire spoke wheels of the Vitpilen had to give way to carbon rims from Dymag. Carbon fiber was also the choice of material for the new front fender and the front spoiler. The new tank / radiator cladding combination was first modeled with 3D technology, then printed out as a basic form using a 3D printer and reproduced with carbon fiber laminate. The standard round headlight did not meet Leclerc’s taste and was replaced by a KTM 790 main headlight. In the cockpit, the round instruments had to make room for a TFT display.
Removed side panels expose the tubular steel frame. At the stern, Bad Winners added a new taillight to a carbon rump. The battery also found its new place under the rump. Leclerc himself is allowed to bed on a new leather seat. New steering stubs with new fittings and LED handlebar end indicators round off the conversion.
85 hp for the single cylinder
But Bad Winners also worked on the 693 cm³ single. On the exhaust side, it was unleashed with a SC Project stainless steel exhaust system with a carbon damper. The series airbox was replaced by a sports air filter. The injection system was re-tuned using the Power Commander. The bottom line is that the power should have increased from 75 to a good 85 hp, which has an empty weight of just under 130 kilograms.

Apex 2.0 for everyone too
It is not known what Leclerc had to pay for his dream bike. It is clear, however, that Bad Winners will also make Apex 2.0 available to other customers. Four expansion levels are available, ranging from 14,690 to 20,990 euros.
